About This Game

Idle. Scavenge. Make it out alive!

Backrooms: Archive is an idle RPG that combines roguelite progression with text-driven adventure.

Take note: this is no ordinary exercise.

An operation codenamed OP7355608 caused the entrances to the Backrooms to spiral out of control.

To uncover the cause of the disaster, the Investigation Department of E.N.T.R.A.N.C.E.—the agency responsible for regulating and containing anomalous transit—built an extraordinary system known as the Backrooms Archive. Within it, failed expeditions can be reviewed, compared, and pieced together into a greater record.

Here, as an Investigation Department tester, you will enter the Backrooms labyrinth reconstructed by the AI “Aria.” Relive OP7355608 again and again, investigate every anomaly, gather supplies, search for exits, and bring back as many valuable materials, clues, and archive records as possible—all to uncover the truth of what happened.

Assemble your investigation team. Choose a target level, bring companions you can trust, decide which limited equipment is worth carrying—

Then step inside.

E.N.T.R.A.N.C.E. Keeps Running: Support for Future Investigations

As one of the Federation’s finest employees, venturing into the Backrooms is not your only job. Build your operation step by step until it becomes a production system that never stops. Motivate your colleagues with pizza, awaken the Backrooms Heart during investigations, and claim generous supply rewards!

The Backrooms Heart is the central core the AI Aria uses to sustain her simulations, while the Pizza System is essential for keeping employees motivated... at least, that is what Aria believes.

Even while you are away from the game, the Backrooms Heart and Pizza Delivery System will preserve your idle earnings. As their levels increase, E.N.T.R.A.N.C.E. will issue Recovered Sample Pouches of different tiers. Tear them open and bring Liminal Coins, upgrade materials, and new investigator contacts back to your team, preparing you for your next descent into the Backrooms.

You can also unlock the Plantation, continuously supply the Logistics Department with produce, and receive additional support for your investigations.

You can even assemble expedition teams and dispatch characters to levels you have already unlocked, allowing them to bring back rewards while you are away.

Assemble Your Investigation Team

Before every operation, you must decide which level to enter, who will accompany you, and how to distribute your limited equipment.

Every character has their own exploration abilities and paths of growth, and each may uncover different clues. No single team can handle every anomaly.

So know your objective. Is it survival? Profit? Or did you simply hear the weather was pleasant and decide to take a walk through the Backrooms?

Whatever your purpose, prepare accordingly. If you live long enough to read the extraction report prepared for you by Logistics, we are certain you will not regret it.

Take the Next Step Through the Backrooms Labyrinth

Once inside a level, you will chart a route across a sprawling, labyrinthine map.

Your companions, equipment, supplies, and current condition will all shape the outcome of your choices, while environmental conditions can transform the expedition itself. They may steal your sight and grind your team into exhaustion—but they may also offer a desperate investigation team one last hope in the form of fragrant almond mist.

Any node may lead to a completely unknown random event: a warm camp left behind by another investigation team, the chilling remains of those who came before you, an emergency that demands careful judgment, or perhaps one of the strange tales that has circulated through E.N.T.R.A.N.C.E. for years.

Going deeper means discovering more. It also means moving farther and farther away from the safety of the exit...

You must decide which risks are worth taking, which supplies must be brought home, and when it is time to end the investigation and return your findings to the warehouse. A seemingly harmless decision may reward you with a valuable item or a new archive entry, but it may also demand a price your team can never recover from.

Investigators who fail to return alive are, naturally, considered unqualified.

Help Aria Complete the Backrooms Archive

As your investigation deepens, you—as an E.N.T.R.A.N.C.E. Investigation Department tester—will help us document the environments, resources, anomalous phenomena, and hidden exits found throughout the Backrooms.

Discover entrances to new levels. Piece together clues scattered across seemingly unrelated events and archive records.

  • What truly happened during OP7355608—the operation that brought human civilization to the brink of collapse?

  • Why did the Backrooms begin invading reality?

The truth is in there.

We trust that you will uncover it for us.
