About This Game

Build, defend, and take control. Neural Defense is a third-person Tower Defense where every match generates a different map, and you decide when to leave the strategic view to step inside any of your towers and defend it yourself.

In a future where an AI fused with a volcanic mineral is the target of a ruthless corporation, you're the only engineer standing between her and extinction. Build your defense network, survive the wave, and when things get critical — sync up.

— Tower Sync

Enter 3 of the 4 available towers and take direct control in first or third person. Automatic mode fires based on your configured targeting priority; with Tower Sync, you choose the target yourself, your damage increases, you unlock a special ability exclusive to manual mode, and you can switch towers mid-combat with a quick-access command, without ever returning to the top-down map view.

— Procedurally generated maps

Every match is different. You'll never memorize a layout. The system guarantees playable routes, but tower placement, obstacles, and chokepoints always change — adding an extra layer of difficulty along with the chance to boost your towers' range depending on the elevation where you place them.

— 4 towers, each with its own identity

Each tower has a unique automatic attack mode, expandable through two independent upgrade tracks: in-match progression and meta-progression between runs.

— 5 enemy types, including a wave boss

The genre's classic recipe, dosed in quantity based on enemy type and wave progression. Each enemy also has a defining trait that will force you to rethink your tower positioning strategy.

— A complete story, no filler

Follow Kael, an engineer from the planet Phoros-7, and Vox, the artificial intelligence born from fusing technology with Ferrite-9, a volcanic mineral that gives her physical memory. 12 missions across 3 acts, and an ending that depends entirely on you.

— Survival Mode

One of the campaign's endings unlocks infinite waves: hold out for as long as you can, with a meta-progression system that gives purpose to every extra run and extends playtime well beyond the story.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

Neural Defense was developed by a five-person indie team using a combination of hand-crafted work and generative AI tools. Generative AI was used during development to assist with music composition, concept art, portions of the game's code, and the editing and expansion of some narrative text. All final in-game assets — including 3D models, textures, and visual art seen during gameplay — were hand-crafted by the studio's artists. No content or code is generated live during gameplay; everything was created, reviewed, and finalized by the team prior to release.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Neural Defense portrays a sustained conflict between multiple colonies and a private military force. It examines violence as an unending cycle, and features exploding vehicles, some carrying personnel, alongside scenes of civilians running for shelter.
