What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“At the heart of Cardcrafter lie the forging system and the player marketplace—complex features that require iterative refinement through actual player engagement. We believe the best balance and content direction emerge from playing and tweaking the game alongside the community. Early Access allows us to put a fully playable core gameplay loop into your hands and then expand and polish it based on your feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate a period of 6 to 12 months. The actual timeline may be adjusted based on content expansion and community feedback, but we do not intend to remain in Early Access indefinitely.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full release, we plan to expand the game with more areas, cards, enemies, and crafting mechanics, refine the stat balance, and add support for controllers and Steam Deck. We won't be scrapping the core gameplay; instead, the full version will build upon the existing foundation to offer greater depth and breadth.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A full adventure loop is currently fully playable, featuring 5 regions, 80+ basic cards, 300+ modifiers, 30+ enemies and bosses, event/rest/treasure nodes, a player marketplace, cloud saves, and Steam achievements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to change the price of the game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We communicate directly via the Discord community and share progress updates through patch notes. Real player data allows us to fine-tune balance based on real figures, and we continuously monitor and adjust the marketplace economy.”

About This Game

Forge the Heart of Your Cards

In CardCrafter, every player takes on the role of a master smith. You will embed affixes using Enchanting Stones, inscribe effects via Runes, and fully unlock the crafting potential of your cards, transforming ordinary cards into unique, game-changing weapons. With over 330 affixes at your disposal, every basic card can be shaped into a completely different Destiny—ensuring that no two "Destiny Cards" in the world are ever exactly alike!

Delve into Five Realms

Every adventure is a Roguelite expedition: traverse diverse realms, chart your path through a mix of battles, events, rest stops, and treasures, and face off against elite enemies and bosses sporting randomized affixes. Encounter difficulty scales dynamically, and you get to choose which spoils of victory to keep. Best of all, every defeat paves the way for an even stronger deck in your next run.

Deep Deck-Building Possibilities

  • Three rarity tiers, diverse card types, and a wealth of keywords and status effects combine to offer immense deck-building depth.

  • Memory Shards can corrupt your cards, introducing unpredictable variables that balance risk with explosive potential.

  • Rare variant cards feature exclusive visual effects, adding extra value for collectors.

The Marketplace

List offers and compete for cards and materials crafted by others in the Marketplace. In-game materials serve a dual purpose: they are used to forge cards and act as the currency exchanged between card-smiths. Every card you craft could become a pivotal piece in another adventurer's deck.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

CardCrafter uses generative AI to create some of the content shipped with the game:

• Art: card illustrations, character and enemy portraits, icons, currencies and background scenes are created primarily with generative image models, then curated, post-processed and integrated by human.
• Audio: some sound effects and background music are created with generative AI tools.
• Text & localization: In-game text such as card descriptions is drafted with AI assistance and edited by hand; the Simplified Chinese and English localizations are machine-translated first, then human-proofread.

All of this content is pre-generated during development and baked into the game. The game does not generate any AI content at runtime, and never sends player input to an AI. Everything produced with AI is reviewed and selected by human before inclusion.
