Memories of Rachel is a text adventure game where you pick up keywords called fragments from the protagonist's memories and answer questions to advance the main story.

As you read the game like a visual novel, vignette-like memories will appear.

As you answer questions using the keywords, the protagonist's secrets as well as what she must say to Rachel become clear.

That's all there is to it. No sudden action sequences, no clicking on maps.

But their secrets and the overlap of memories will stick like a thorn in your heart.

Story

The protagonist is Kaori Kashima, a second-year high school student.

She and her best friend Rachel are on their way home when suddenly, a person in a black hood appears and fatally stabs Rachel.

Somehow, Kaori acquires a time machine and manages to go back in time.

But she soon realizes something's different here—it's a parallel world.

Rachel is alive and well, but Kaori feels she must return to the original timeline.

Where and when did this parallel world split off?

Searching her memories for answers, she attempts time travel again at the moment of divergence, but—

CONTENT WARNING

This game is a mystery visual novel that deals with dark and sometimes
disturbing subject matter. Please read the notes below if you'd like to
know more before purchasing.

VIOLENCE
The story centers on a murder mystery and contains graphic depictions of
violence, including stabbing, strangulation, and other on-screen deaths.
Firearms also appear in a few scenes.

SUICIDE
The story includes a depicted suicide attempt. Character death by suicide
is also referenced in some of the game's alternate endings.

ABUSE
Part of the story deals with an abusive home environment, including a
storyline in which an adult character sexually abuses a child. This is
handled seriously and is not shown graphically or explicitly, but the
subject matter itself is present. Themes of neglect and emotional abuse
also recur elsewhere in the story.

ROMANCE / SEXUAL CONTENT
Two of the main characters, both written as high school students, develop
a romantic relationship over the course of the story, including scenes of
kissing. One scene strongly implies that the two have been intimate;
nudity is referenced in the text but not shown explicitly. One kiss in the
story is initiated without the other character's clear consent.

ALCOHOL
Alcohol use appears briefly in one scene involving an adult character.
The game does not depict illegal drug use.
