What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Welcome to our world!
Early Access is going to be an Epic journey for us both, we’ve spent a lot of time working on TLL already and think now is the time to start involving real players in its creation. Hopefully you will like what we’ve done so far and see the potential, though there is still much work to be done.

Quick aside: TLL our first foray into self-publishing and it is a large undertaking we are inexperienced in dealing with. With your help and feedback, we can nail it, but we do expect to get some things wrong, and for this we apologise up front.
Fortunately, common sense should prevail, and you can just talk to us whenever you have something to say, though we are only a small team we welcome input, all we ask is the you grant us a little patience if you can.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're not sure exactly how long we'll be in early access, it is very dependent upon how it goes and how you guys respond to the development and updates. Once we’ve had a little time in Early Access we’ll be able to better judge when we can leave it so stay tuned!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We already have the core mechanics in place though we have high ambitions for our game and intend to implement many more features during Early Access. Our update plan is a mix of content updates, new features and game modes, which include:

Modding – A potentially never ending task which is high on our priority list. We’d like to give you as much as possible to play with though we will have to tackle it in stages. We’re researching exactly what will go into the debut of this feature as I write and this will feature early on in our updates.

Monsters - We've already started working on these gigantic bad boys and have a plan. This is a big feature for us and we won’t release them into the wilds until we are confident that they are truly EPIC.

Voyage Mode: This is the adventure mode that will see you unlock the secrets of Middenhir, and discover the story behind The Last Leviathan.

Real-time Multiplayer - Another big feature for a small team to undertake. This one will just take some time, we expect 6 months from when we start to get it to a good enough state for general consumption, fortunately we'll be doing beta testing on that earlier, though can't say exactly when yet.

Then there are lashings of smaller features like: challenges, racing, siege & fleet battles, not to mention a barrelful of new blocks to play with, new lighting/weather conditions and of course more environments to explore.

Some of these features should come relatively quickly from here and we'll be updating you as regularly as possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is stable, though requires a relatively high min spec machine to run properly. It currently contains many ways in which to create and use your ships: Cog Class Battle Seas – the first tier in a series of battles, challenges and events - Versus Battles, Steam Workshop, and an open sandbox area to test your creations.

The Ship Creator has a versatile set of building blocks with which to construct your creations including structural hull blocks, projectile and melee weapons, decorative items, figureheads and much more.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price of The Last Leviathan Early Access will increase slowly as development and features move closer to V1.0 (Full Release).
We hope that players will feel satisfied they paid the appropriate amount as they come into our world, and for our earlier adopters this is an incentive to stay and help us build the world”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We truly hope that the community becomes a huge part of our game and we have built TLL with strong creative and emergent mechanics to facilitate that. We cannot wait to see some unpredictable creations that test TLL to its limits and the battles that will ensue.

From our side we’ll continue to facilitate creativity by listening (sometimes from the sidelines, sometimes fully engaged) to all the ideas and feedback we receive and use it to incite & provoke our development and world.
We'll be posting regular updates on what we've been up too each week and actively engage with anybody and everyone we possibly can.”

This new tutorial series will take you from the basics, right through to building your own advanced Dinkus - or whatever else you can think of! (But please, not too many Dinkuses).

Finally an update! and News!

Hi All!

Ok so time for an apology, we've been naughty and not communicated with you for some time on TLL and for that we are sorry.
It’s not that we didn't want to, just that we didn't have much to say, but regardless, it wasn't our intention to leave you guys in the dark for so long.
Please accept our humble apologies and this piece of virtual rum :rumbarrel:

Onto the update!
We've not been able to do much on TLL in the last year as we had a difficult year in 2017 for one reason or another, but we're very happy to say that 2018 has been brilliant so far - WOOT!
We're just about to turn the TLL development taps back on properly so you will see some new TLL content soon - on this point we have a question:

What would you like to see next?
1) Multiplayer
2) More Crusades
3) Monsters!
4) Other (please define)

We're thinking Multiplayer but let us know what you think!

New Hire!
We've just hired a new community ninja who starts in July and whose job it will be to ensure we never ever get to this point again in the future. We've got a very detailed plan for him to crack on with in July so expect to see this happening and please welcome him into the community, he'll be your main conduit to development though we'll also be around obvs

New Game
One of the reasons 2018 has been much better than last year is that we managed to do a deal with a big cool company for a new game. Nice.

WAIT! I know what you're thinking, this will detract from TLL, and to be fair, it will a bit, BUT, it also facilitates TLL, in that we can now continue to develop TLL in earnest and not just ad-hoc bits and pieces in the evenings as we've been doing recently.

This game will be announced next Tuesday (12th) at E3, which means I can't tell you what it is yet but you'll see it during the E3 announcements if you have your eyes peeled.
This deal has also allowed us to hire more staff and become a better, more well-rounded development company with new people that can contribute to TLL in a number of different ways

We will finish TLL, we've always said that regardless of how successful it is, it will be finished, and we stand on that statement. Thank you for being with us for so long and we're very glad to be able to finally give you some good news!

More soon

Live long and fish!

About This Game

The Last Leviathan is a physics-based, ship building and destruction adventure. You construct battle ships to crush your adversaries and massacre the monsters you encounter around the ancient seas of Middenhir.

On your voyage to uncover where The Last Leviathan lies you will discover a world full of rival ships, mythical monsters, wrecked flotsam, physics-puzzles and hidden treasures.

Build Ships

With blocks bought, found or plundered, you’ll craft boats capable of conquering pirates, out manoeuvring racing ships, disintegrating towers high on the coastal hills and solving mysteries.

Naval Encounters

Across the busy seas of Middenhir you’ll encounter many ships from clans far and wide. Some will be friendly and want to trade, others are looking for blood and booty - Yours!

Battling Monsters

Some say these behemoths are the descendants of The Last Leviathan, others just refuse to accept that they exist. Once you’ve seen one on the horizon you’ll wonder how you ever thought of anything else.

Monster battles will be the pinnacle of your experience in The Last Leviathan. You’ll need to analyse the monster’s weaknesses, craft bigger weapons, build a specialised ship and then unleash the dogs of war with true, commanding skill.

Voyage: Build, sail, navigate and fight across the seas, unveiling the secrets of Middenhir in a voyage of survival and discovery.

Creative: Completely open sandbox for you to be inventive or just enjoy the sights and relax in.

Battle Seas: An ocean of fights and challenges including: survival, last man standing, racing, waves, and many more that we (and you) haven't thought of yet!

Full Steam Workshop integration allowing your ship designs to be shared and battled with or against. Leaderboards will track your uploaded ship’s performance in battle against members of the community.

You'll be able to Mod in many ways from Ship-AI, Cannon-AI, ship block creation and potentially even Battle Seas events.

Our current version is a limited set of polished features for both Battle Seas and Creative modes. Voyage mode & Real-time multiplayer will be developed during Early Access.

We’ll be releasing on PC initially, then Mac and Linux versions during Early Access.

We’re Super Punk Games, a small indie developer based in Nottingham, England.

To get in touch about the game, you can find us hanging out in the Steam Community HUB or on our subreddit, Facebook & twitter. Use the link above to our website to find out more!

Thank you for reading to the end, you are clearly a Super Punk!
