About This Game

Gameplay

According to the Emperor, Nothing Happened is a strategy card game inspired by the rise and fall of Chinese dynasties.

Unlike traditional card games, there is no health bar. Instead of defeating the emperor directly, your objective is to bring down the dynasty itself by manipulating its core national attributes.

Face nine legendary emperors, each serving as a unique boss with their own mechanics, strengths, and ruling styles. Adapt your strategy to exploit the weaknesses of every dynasty.

Each battle represents the life cycle of an empire. At the beginning of every turn, a random historical event presents you with a decision. You then draw random cards and spend Action Points to play historical event cards that influence the state of the dynasty. After your turn ends, the emperor responds by stabilizing the realm, strengthening the government, or carrying out their own plans.

Victory is achieved not by defeating the emperor in combat, but by pushing the dynasty beyond its limits until one of its core national attributes collapses.

Five National Attributes

Every dynasty is governed by five core attributes:

Popular Discontent

Treasury

Border Threats

Corruption

Stability

Every card you play affects one or more of these attributes.

These systems interact with one another, creating chain reactions throughout the battle. Your objective is to identify the weakest point in the dynasty, escalate the crisis, and ultimately cause one of the five attributes to reach its breaking point.

Legendary Emperor Bosses

Every emperor offers a completely different challenge.

Qin Shi Huang possesses exceptional executive power. If his plans are not disrupted early, he will evolve into an even greater threat during the later stages of the battle.

Emperor Taizong of Tang has almost no obvious weaknesses. His balanced and resilient rule demands careful planning and consistent execution from the player.

The Hongwu Emperor (Zhu Yuanzhang) begins with powerful national statistics and remarkable resilience, but observant players can exploit his hidden vulnerabilities.

As you progress, you'll face additional emperors with unique mechanics, ensuring that every battle requires a different strategy.
