Nether Meridian is a challenging fusion of a forward-running game and a first-person shooter.

The player is constantly moving forward. The controls are simple, consisting only of left and right movement, jumping, left and right dashes, and shooting. Despite the straightforward controls, the gameplay offers considerable depth and demands quick decision-making in high-speed situations.

Aiming is a key part of the scoring system. Eliminating enemies without aiming yields fewer points, while taking the risk to aim under pressure can greatly increase your score. Taking damage will cancel aiming, forcing players to balance offense and survival.

The game is structured around four zones that make up a single loop. Each completed loop increases the difficulty, pushing players to survive longer and achieve higher scores.

Hidden throughout the game are 20 Combat Protocols. These protocols are discovered by performing specific actions during combat, and some are extremely difficult to uncover. Experiment with different techniques and challenge yourself to discover them all.

Those who discover all 20 Combat Protocols may uncover something beyond the standard experience.

Nether Meridian is designed as a score-attack experience. By combining actions effectively, players can trigger Combat Protocols and build score-boosting chains. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.

Target elimination is mandatory. If enemies are not destroyed for an extended period of time, warning messages will appear and a health drain will begin. Remaining aggressive is essential for survival.

Your performance is evaluated by rank. Reaching Rank D will immediately end the run, even if you still have health remaining.

When your health reaches zero, the run ends. Your final results are recorded on the Top 10 leaderboard, and all discovered Combat Protocols can be reviewed in the Protocol Archive.
