Build a towering 3D fortress and hold the line. Stack floors, raise walls, and place turrets by altitude to survive escalating swarms of ground and flying machines closing on your core — then watch one collapsing tower take everything with it. A lean, neon, code-built base-defense roguelite.

About This Game

Build a fortress. Hold the line.

OUTWORKS is a 3D base-defense survival game about one thing: build a fortress, and hold.

A glowing command core sits at the center. Around it you raise a layered structure — floor by floor, wall by wall — and arm every tier with turrets. Then the waves come: fast ground swarms below, gunships and bombers from above. Your design either holds, or it doesn't.

Between waves you get a breather to build: spend the scrap from each kill to expand, re-tier and upgrade, then brace for a bigger wave. That build-fast, hold-on rhythm is the heart of it — read the threat, commit to a layout, and feel the rush when your fortress holds the line (or scramble when it buckles).

⬆ Height is the whole game

Ground enemies threaten your lower floors; flyers strike from above. Deciding what to place at which altitude is the core puzzle. Stack higher for range and sightlines — but pay in resources, and in structure. Breachers and sappers tear down walls, and when a support falls, the floors and turrets above it collapse with it. Your fortress isn't just firepower; it's architecture under fire.

🏗 Build & defend

  • Build in three dimensions — stack up to four floors, lay walls (including counter-walls that reflect damage back), raise support pillars, and slot turrets across every tier.
  • Nine turret types — basic, rapid, heavy, sniper and anti-air to start; unlock the gatling, a piercing railgun, wall-clearing artillery and splash missiles by upgrading your command core.
  • Active powers — call in an orbital strike, freeze the field with an EMP, or emergency-repair your core — all spent live from your scrap, on a cooldown.
  • Structural collapse — destroy what holds a tower up and everything above comes down. It cuts both ways.

⚔ Survive the swarm

  • Fourteen enemy types — swarmers, armored tanks, shielded APCs, splitters, warpers, regenerators, jammers, turret-bombing gunships, and escalating bosses.
  • Draft upgrades between waves — after every wave, pick one of three run-wide boosts (damage, fire rate, range, salvage, fortify). Compounding choices shape each run.
  • Endless escalation — a campaign that forks twice: bank your run for a depth record, or commit to an endless rising tide and chase a score.

🌐 Beyond the run

  • Global leaderboards — online boards (weekly / monthly / all-time) for depth and endless runs. Plays fully offline; your local best is always kept.
  • Creative mode — a free-build sandbox: 18 sculpting blocks, a 12-color palette, towers up to 24 levels. No enemies, no cost — just build.
  • Four visual themes — Stencil, Blueprint, CRT and Neon. Fourteen interface languages.
  • No image assets, all code — clean neon geometry, swarms, tracers, ballistic arcs and screen-shake juice. Runs light — even on integrated graphics and modest laptops.

Lean by design. One fortress, escalating pressure, and a single question: how long can you hold?

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

OUTWORKS was developed with the help of AI-based coding assistants, which we used to write parts of the game's source code. Everything you see and hear in the game is then generated procedurally by that code — all graphics are drawn in code (SVG/CSS) and all sound is synthesized in code (Web Audio). The game contains no AI-generated image or audio assets, and no generative AI runs while you play.
