What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Hearthfield is built around one idea most farm games don't try: a cooking-driven economy where raw crops are nearly worthless and the kitchen is how you get rich. Systems like that — ingredient research, recipe balance, the sleep-debt fatigue loop, and especially 2–4 player co-op — only get truly good when real players push on them in ways a small team can't predict. We want to build Hearthfield with its community rather than disappear for years and hope we guessed right. Early Access lets players shape the recipe tree, the economy tuning, and the co-op feel while there's still room to change it.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan to be in Early Access for roughly 12 to 18 months. That estimate may shift depending on player feedback and the scope we settle on together — we'd rather leave Early Access when the game is ready than rush to hit a date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to be a broader, deeper game than the Early Access build. Areas we plan to expand:

- More content: more crops, fish, animals, ingredients, and a substantially larger recipe and research tree across all four seasons.
- Story & townsfolk: we plan to grow the main narrative arc, add more characters, friendships, festivals, and the social layer that gives the town its life.
- Automation & late-game tech: we plan to flesh out the quality-of-life automation and the networked storage/crafting "ME" system that defines the end-game.
- More to do underground and on the water: deeper mines and an expanded fishing system.
- Polish & accessibility: ongoing balancing, full controller and Steam Deck support, more languages, and accessibility options.

These are intentions, not guarantees — we plan to prioritize based on what the community tells us matters most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Hearthfield is a playable cozy farming game today, with the core "cooking is king" loop in place. The current build includes:

- Farming, harvesting, and ingredient quality tiers.
- The cooking economy: research ingredients, unlock recipes on the tech tree, cook - dishes worth far more than raw crops.
- Food-as-fuel energy and the optional sleep / sleep-debt fatigue system.
- Online co-op for 2–4 players on a shared farm.
- A starter slice of crops, recipes, fishing, and light mining.

It is an Early Access game: expect rough edges, balancing changes, and content that is still growing. Some systems described in our future plans are partial or not yet in.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add significant content and features during Early Access. Buying in early gets you the lowest price and helps fund development — players who join us at the start won't pay anything extra to receive the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is central to how we want to build Hearthfield. We plan to:

- Read and respond to the Steam Community Hub and discussion forums.
- Run public roadmaps and regular patch notes so players can see what's coming and what changed.
- Poll the community on priorities — which recipes, crops, systems, and quality-of-life features to build next.
- Pay special attention to co-op feedback, since multiplayer balance and stability benefit most from real player testing.
- Fold playtest findings on the trickier systems (economy tuning, fatigue, automation tradeoffs) directly into our development decisions.”

About This Game

Cooking is the whole point.

Most farm games pay you to dump raw crops on a merchant. Not here. In Hearthfield, raw
ingredients are barely worth anything — real wealth comes from the kitchen. Everything you
grow, catch, raise, and mine is fuel for a deep, satisfying cooking economy.

Research, don't gamble.

Study ingredients to unlock what they can become — without using them up. Spend Research
Points to light up a sprawling recipe tech-tree, then turn humble produce into dishes worth
real gold. Discovering a new recipe is its own reward.

Food is your fuel.

Eating cooked dishes restores your energy, so getting good at cooking literally is getting
good at the game. Stay up through a harvest crunch if you dare — but sleep debt is real, and
exhaustion will make every swing cost you.

Build a homestead with friends.

Play solo or in online co-op for 2–4 players. Share a farm, split the chores, and grow
a town together across living seasons.

From hand-tending to high-tech.

Start with a hoe and a watering can. End with automated fields, auto-sorting storage, and a
searchable network that crafts from anywhere. Quality-of-life upgrades reward mastery —
they don't replace the fun.

A cozy world with real depth.

  • Seasons, crops, and animals that feed your recipes
  • Fishing, foraging, and light mine-delving for rare ingredients
  • Befriend townsfolk, take on quests, and uncover the story of Hearthfield
  • Skill trees for cooking, farming, crafting, and more
  • Full controller + keyboard/mouse support, built for Steam Deck
