Lock a target, read the angle, and null your transversal for a clean shot. Turn direct hits into brutal volleys, stacking buffs, and wildly misplaced confidence. Perihelion: Rogue Orbit is a 2D space combat roguelite where you fit ships, control range, and make every shot count.

Leaving Early Access: Q1 2027

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Perihelion: Rogue Orbit's core mechanic is transversal velocity. Making a game that makes a complex mechanic intuitive is hard to get right when you already know what it means. My hope is you can help me tune this and make it the most fun possible.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m aiming for around six months, which would put the full release in Q1 2027. That could shift either way depending on how the game is received.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include player ship varieties, bosses, more sector variety, balance tuning, UI polish, audio/visual improvements, and broader run variety.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version focuses on the core mechanics: transversal, ship fitting, combat mechanics, and procedural runs through varying space sectors.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase when Perihelion: Rogue Orbit leaves Early Access, depending on how much content expands by full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback will help hone the feel of the main transversal combat mechanic along with the general feel of progression and replayability. I’ll be looking closely at what builds players enjoy and where fights feel unfair or flat.”

About This Game

Perihelion: Rogue Orbit is an arcade space combat roguelite where your best shots come from how you fly.

Choose Your Vector

Lock a target, control range, and work the angle until your guns have a clean shot. The key is transversal velocity: how quickly a target moves across the line of fire, and whether the guns can keep up. Cut across enemy fire to break their tracking. Match your target’s movement to create the perfect firing solution, then commit before they do the same to you.

Good Flying Hits Harder

Clean direct hits build Overdrive, stacking damage and fire rate as long as you keep flying well. Finish an enemy with an Overdrive hit and Shield Surge boosts your shield recharge, giving you a chance to carry that momentum into the next fight.

Fit For The Fight

Build your ship from weapons, defences, and utility modules. Heavy guns hit hard but struggle to track fast targets. Defensive modules keep you alive but leave less room for firepower. A fit that dominates at long range can unravel the moment something fast gets underneath its guns. A close-in brawler has to get under enemy guns without starting a fight it can’t finish.

No Build Survives First Contact

Runs last around 10–20 minutes, with reshuffled sectors each time. Clear sectors, scan anomalies under fire, neutralise priority targets, and destroy hostile structures. Fit, launch, make mistakes, learn the angles, and come back sharper on the next run.

Features

  • Control range, tracking, and transversal in readable 2D combat

  • Build Overdrive through clean hits for stacking damage and fire rate

  • Trigger Shield Surge by finishing enemies with direct hits

  • Fit weapons, defenses, and utility modules around your preferred tactics

  • Break enemy tracking with movement, then create your own firing solution

  • Fight through short, reshuffled roguelite runs
