New Version Is out on the Main Branch

Hi

We just wanted to announce that we have released a new version to the main branch.

We solved the most breaking issues with load and save so we thought we would just move it from the beta to the main branch since it is a much better build than the previous one.

This way more people are will be trying it out and we will get more relevant feedback from everybody.

To those of you still on the beta branch, be prepared for getting some rapid updates, it might become more unstable at times so if you want a more stable experience remember to switch to the main branch.

Check out our previous announcement for more info on the features added and what bugs that may be lurking.

Here is a link to the forum post about the changes and bugs, if you do some testing we will be very grateful if you posted them in this thread.

New BETA is out



Hi

It has been some times, but we got something good cooking.

There is a new beta out, it does have some issues which you can read more about in the forum thread i have linked below.

Most notable updates in this build are:



Interface Change:

We changed the way we build our UI so that we can make changes easily.




Desktop Mode:

We have added the ability to use the software without a VR headset. It still needs some tweaks to the tools and other stuff to be completely useful.



Import and export:

We have fixed a number of bugs here, FBX will come when we move the build to the main branch.



Voxel to Surface workflow:

Surface mode is back and more powerful than before. Switching between surface and voxel is now very fast and seamless without much loss of detail.



The Stamp tool

This is a new feature that really increases the power of what you can do. it allows you to import models and convert them to a brush you can repeat as much as you'd like as seen in the screenshot. It has some chunk issues for the moment but is still very fun.



The Gizmo

A new Gizmo has been added. it will improved later, but for now it serves as an easy way to move things in 3d via the Desktop Mode.


Poly modelling


In the beta there are no major changes to poly modeling other than some symmetry fixes, but there will be a completely new modeling sett coming during the beta process.

About This Software

Kodon is a virtual sculpting tool under development (Early Access - so far 70% complete). We are offering Kodon at a lower price before it's done to get in contact with enthusiasts and to get some monetary support to help us develop it.

Kodon aims to become a semi-pro / pro tool that can compete with the existing desktop alternatives for model creation.

When Kodon is ready for release, it should be an immersive VR experience for people without any art skills, and a powerful productivity tool for people with art skills who want to create or edit 3D models.

Kodon will also have a desktop mode allowing you to easily switch between desktop and VR editing.
