What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Cornerstone: College Football is a deep simulation built by a solo developer, and Early Access is the right model for a game of this scope and genre. Sports management sims live or die on long-tail balance, edge cases, and the kinds of issues that only surface when hundreds of players push the game across thousands of seasons of dynasty play — things no amount of internal testing can fully replicate.

Launching in Early Access lets me work directly with the community to refine balance, polish systems, expand content, and address feedback in a way that makes the final 1.0 release substantially better than anything I could ship in isolation. I’m committed to actively developing Cornerstone through Early Access and seeing the project through to a complete 1.0 release. Regular updates, transparent communication, and responsive iteration based on player feedback are core to how I plan to support the game throughout its Early Access period.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I’m planning for Early Access to last approximately 12 to 18 months, though the exact duration will depend on how development progresses and how the game evolves based on community feedback. My priority is reaching a polished, complete 1.0 release rather than hitting a specific date, so the timeline may be adjusted as needed to ensure the full version meets the quality bar I’m aiming for.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full 1.0 version is planned to be a more polished, deeper, and more content-rich version of what’s available at Early Access launch. My goal during Early Access is to refine and expand the game based on community feedback, with a focus on:

• Continued balance and simulation tuning across long-term dynasty play
• UI and quality-of-life improvements as players surface friction points
• Expanded content, including additional plays, formations, and gameplay variety
• Deeper customization options and broader user-side control over the coaching experience
• Ongoing improvements to systems like recruiting, progression, and the coaching carousel as feedback comes in

The exact scope of additions and improvements will be shaped by player feedback during Early Access, and specific features may evolve, expand, or be reprioritized as the community helps identify what matters most. The core simulation, dynasty experience, and feature set described in the ‘About This Game’ section are already in place at Early Access launch — the full version will build on that foundation with additional depth and refinement rather than restructuring the core experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Cornerstone: College Football enters Early Access as a feature-complete college football management simulation. Players can expect:

• A full single-player dynasty experience with multi-season continuity, season history, and persistent player and coach careers
• A tick-by-tick simulation engine that resolves every snap from individual player and matchup interactions, rather than abstract dice-roll outcomes
• An extensive playbook system with hundreds of plays across multiple formations and concepts on both sides of the ball, with playbook size tied to coaching quality
• Full recruiting, player progression, redshirt management, and offseason systems
• A coaching carousel and hot seat system with multi-season career continuity
• In-game broadcast-style play-calling with pre-game scouting, win probability, weather, and matchup analysis
• Stats, awards, standings, polls, and dynasty history tracking across seasons

All features listed in the ‘About This Game’ section are implemented and playable. The game is stable and has been validated through extensive multi-season automated testing. Areas I plan to continue developing during Early Access include deeper customization, expanded user-side coaching career options, additional content, and ongoing balance and UI refinement based on community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community involvement is central to how I plan to develop Cornerstone through Early Access. I plan to engage with players through:

• The Steam Community Hub and discussion forums, where I’ll actively read feedback, respond to questions, and use player reports to prioritize bug fixes and improvements
• Regular development updates and devblogs that share what I’m working on, explain design decisions, and give players visibility into the game’s direction
• Steam announcements tied to meaningful updates so wishlisters and owners stay informed about new content, fixes, and balance changes
• Direct feedback channels for bug reports, feature requests, and balance discussion, with the most-requested and highest-impact items factored into the development roadmap

As a solo developer, I want the Early Access community to genuinely shape what Cornerstone becomes. Player feedback on balance, simulation realism, dynasty depth, and quality-of-life issues will directly inform what I work on next. I’m committed to being visible, responsive, and transparent throughout Early Access.”

About This Game

Cornerstone is a college football management sim built for people who want to feel every down. This isn't just another "press sim and read the box score" game. The engine plays out each play tick by tick during every snap. We want to offer the player the strategic and tactical depth they deserve.

Start at a struggling program or take over a blue blood. Either way, the job is the same: win games, win recruits, and survive the hot seat long enough to build something that lasts.

A SIMULATION THAT ACTUALLY SIMULATES

  • Tick-by-tick game engine — every play resolves in real game time, not just a dice roll

  • 900+ plays across a full offensive and defensive playbook

  • Call your own plays : pick formation, concept, and tempo, then watch the drive play out

  • Live play feed, and an analyst breaking down the defense or offense you're facing

  • Manage clock, timeouts, and tempo when the game is on the line

RECRUIT YOUR FOUNDATION

  • Scout and target high school prospects across the country

  • Win recruiting battles against rival programs for the players who fit your scheme

  • Allocate scouting resources, track your class needs, and land the cornerstones of your dynasty

RUN THE PROGRAM

  • Live and die by expectations — beat them and bigger schools come calling; miss and you're on the hot seat

  • Track the coaching carousel as programs across the country fire, hire, and extend

  • Develop players in the offseason to fit your offensive and defensive identity

BUILD A LEGACY

  • Play season after season and watch your dynasty's history take shape

  • Conference titles, playoff runs, bowl results, national champions — all recorded

  • Chase individual awards, climb the rankings, and cement your place among the legends
