What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I want to get feedback from the community on the game. JoustVille has a variety of different mechanics that I'm curious about. Do players enjoy them and understand them? Is it fun? What kind of customization are players enjoying, and what would they change?”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately a year; I want to release the full version sometime in late 2027.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Currently I'm working on the first year of the campaign. I have plans for a multi year campaign where the player restores their family estate, but the current version of the game covers two months of the tournament season.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is currently a playable demo covering two months of the tournament season, with 3 tournaments to enter, 2 bosses to fight, and 3 different towns to explore, each with their own NPCs, items, and quests. Please read the "About This" section for more details! ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access Version will be discounted compared to the release version, and early access supporters will receive expansions to the game for free, forever. Any Paid DLC or additional content will be included for EA Supporters. ”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Discord channel, live stream sessions, and more. I want to hear what players think about the combat, the horses, the NPCs and the storylines. Player feedback on all of those is important, and I want Early Access Players to help me shape and refine the game.
The game will have it's own Discord, and I'll be livestreaming regularly on Discord and Twitch to interact with players and fans.”

About This Game

Your father's house is a ruin. The name he left is so worthless, the King has given you a new one. All you have now is an empty manor, a single horse, and a training lance.

JoustVille is a singleplayer, open-world, Arthurian-inspired medieval RPG about making your name in a world that watches what you do and remembers. Ride from tournament to tournament, train the horse that carries you, forge alliances and rivalries, and build a reputation entirely your own.

The Joust

Every pass is a duel of timing and nerve. Skill-based combat rewards understanding your opponent before you ever step into the Arena. Line up your charge, commit your lance, and read your opponent in the instant before impact. There's no single "best" loadout; a heavy lance that unhorses one rival glances off the next, and every horse, shield, and suit of armor changes how a pass feels. You win by knowing who you're facing and what you've got in your hands.

Your Horse, Your Companion

Each horse is a unique companion, with their own personality and history. Build a bond that shows in the moments that matter, and feel the difference between a new horse and a trained, seasoned companion. The finest knights in JoustVille aren't the ones with the best gear. They're the ones who ride as one with their horse. From the heavy Percheron to the swift Arabian to the noble Friesian, you can unlock different breeds, train them in authentic dressage moves, and even send them on HorseQuests of their own.

A World That Remembers

Your choices matter. The people of JoustVille watch and remember what you do. The world sees what kind of knight you are becoming, and acts accordingly. Are you just and lawful, but without mercy? The Sheriff might think highly of you; the Priest might not. There is no right or wrong answer, but the people have their own opinions, and the world will change based on your actions.

Make Your Mark

Deep character customization runs through every system. Design your own coat of arms and carry your colors into every tournament. As you earn the respect of the people around you, the heraldry you fly and the equipment you bring into the lists become a living record of everything you won, who helped, and who hindered. Anyone can buy equipment, but alliances are earned.

Forge Your Own Path

There are no game-overs, and no single ending. Lose a tournament, make an enemy, fall into debt? The world doesn't end. It simply turns, and your story bends with it. A defeated knight rebuilds. An outlaw finds new roads. A bankrupt heir takes the long way back. Be merciful or be just. Be feared or be honored. There's no good or bad. Some people will applaud your decisions, others will never understand. JoustVille is a story-rich RPG with multiple endings and high replay value. It never tells you the right way to be a knight. It only asks what kind you'll choose to become.

A World Still Being Built

JoustVille is in active development, and I can't wait to share it with players. The opening towns are playable today, with the joust, horse training, HorseQuests, and heraldry systems live and evolving. Coming in Early Access: more towns, deeper systems, your camp growing into a staffed retinue, and the rebuilding of your family estate.

All pixel art is captured from live gameplay. The most likely thing to change is the art, but the Joust itself and the dynamic, reactive world that remembers your choices are already built and working.

As a wishlister, you'll be there to see the world grow with every update. Add JoustVille to your wishlist and follow the road from a ruined name to a legend.
