Coming Soon To Early Access

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“EXTERM is a single-person project, and releasing in Early Access lets me do two things at once: build a community while I build the game, and bring that community into the creative process. Through bug reports, comments on devlog videos, and feedback during the Early Access phase on where the game should go, players get to shape EXTERM directly — instead of me guessing in isolation and launching something that never had real feedback behind it. It also means getting the game into players' hands sooner, and giving early supporters a stake in how it grows.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm planning roughly 4-8 months in Early Access, depending on how development goes and how much content I want to add to the game. Considering I am a solo developer and this being one of my very first projects (random small test games included) it is hard to give an exact timeframe, but I aim to get the game out with that planned timeframe in mind.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version I plan to expand on the Early Access foundation: additional maps each with their own unique monster sets, more elite and regular enemy types, a wider pool of items and objectives, and deeper progression around the contract and quota systems — plus ongoing balance, performance, and polish driven by player feedback. The core loop stays the same; the goal is more of it, refined.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Early Access launches with the full core loop playable in online co-op for up to four players: drop into procedurally generated maps, fill your quota of items and exterminations, fight each map's unique regular and elite monsters, and extract to the van.
At launch it includes 2 maps and 6 elite monsters, the quota system, and the radio and speaker systems. The interactable terminal ties it together — choose your map, buy weapons, unlock quality-of-life upgrades (like a location readout beside the item display), and review the dossiers of the selected map's elite monsters.
It's a complete, playable experience — just not the whole game yet.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will likely increase as EXTERM leaves Early Access and more content is added. Anyone who buys during Early Access keeps the game through full release at no extra cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Development happens in the open, through devlogs and updates on social media and here on Steam. I read what comes back — bug reports, the Steam discussions, and community feedback — and the crews actually playing the game are the best source of direction it has. That feedback directly shapes what gets built next and what gets changed or refined.”

About This Game

Something has moved into the places people abandoned. You and up to three others have been hired to deal with it. Not to study it. Not to run from it. To wipe it out — and grab everything worth taking on the way.

The Job

EXTERM is a co-op horror extraction game. Sign the contract, pile into the van, and get dropped into a different cursed site every run. The quota is simple and doesn't care about your excuses: grab what's on the list, kill what's marked for extermination. Hit both, or you don't get paid — and the longer you stick around, the more the place starts paying attention to you.

Features

  • Two jobs, one paycheck. You're scavenger and hunter both — loot the valuables, take down the elite monster stalking the map. Come up short on either number and walking away early isn't on the table.

  • A bestiary that hits back. Every map spawns its own mix of regular and elite monsters, each with its own logic — things that watch from the dark, things that wear a friendly face, things that just come for you. Learn how they work, or become dinner.

  • Never the same run twice. Rooms, layouts, and loot get rebuilt from scratch every time you drop in. No memorizing the map. No safe runs.

  • Built for up to four. Split up, coordinate, panic, die together — co-op is what separates a full van from an empty one.

  • Get back to the van. It's the only way out. Bring the haul back, bring your crew back, and try to do both at once.

Clock in. Fill the quota. Try to clock out.

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

A small number of in-game texture images (around four) and the game's logo — used across the main menu, store capsule artwork, and library assets — were created with the help of a generative AI image tool during development, then incorporated into the game. No content is generated by AI during gameplay.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

EXTERM is a co-op horror game with a realistic, frightening atmosphere. Players explore dark environments while being hunted by hostile creatures, and player characters can be killed during gameplay. The game does not contain sexual content or substance abuse themes.
