Why Early Access?

“We're a two-person studio, and SLAMPUNKS lives or dies on how it feels to fight alongside a friend. That's not something we can fully tune alone. We want real squads playing real runs, telling us where the peer to peer tether feels amazing and where it feels clunky, before we lock in the final balance and content roadmap. Early Access lets us build the rest of the roster and the difficulty curve with players in the loop, not just our own two-person playtest group.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're aiming for roughly 6 to 9 months, though as a small team we'd rather ship it right than rush it out on a fixed date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build launches with 5 heroes, and we plan to grow the roster toward 10+ heroes by full launch. We plan to add more maps beyond the launch map, expand the augment and upgrade pools well past the 78+ augments and 100+ upgrades players start with, and keep tuning the difficulty tiers and run modifiers based on what the community tells us. We plan to use Early Access to find the squad mechanics that click hardest (the tether, the launch, the augment stacking) and build more content around those first.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable start to finish in 1 to 3 player co-op. It ships with 5 heroes, 78+ augments, 100+ stackable upgrades, 1 map, 3 difficulty tiers, and 12 stackable run modifiers for players chasing extra challenge and rewards. Core systems (the tether, the launch, camera switching between top-down and third-person mid-run, augment stacking) are all in and tunable based on feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price when we leave Early Access, as a way of rewarding players who join us early.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We're active on our Discord (discord.com/invite/2Q3BS7rhHZ), where players can report bugs, suggest changes, and talk directly with the two of us. Patch notes call out which changes came from community feedback versus internal fixes, so players can see their input landing in the game. We'll keep running structured playtests and take balance and content direction from what squads actually do in runs, not just what we assume works.”
