About This Game

STEEL CORE is a turn-based strategy with tactical battles and an escalating roguelite campaign. You command a squad of giant mechs sent to protect mining outposts on hostile worlds. You will assemble mechs from multiple parts, turn outposts into fortified bases, and move from planet to planet fighting an alien enemy that always outnumbers you.

On the frontier, extermination of xenofauna is a growth industry. The big shots think they own the planets. The swarm disagrees. When the suits discover a Xenoridium ore claim, they sign a contract, and someone gets outsourced to protect it. That someone is you.

Every contract runs on a tight schedule:

  • BUILD BY DAY. Prepare mechs, install walls, activate turrets, research upgrades, and keep the mining operation running.

  • DEPLOY AT DUSK. Position your squad to meet the enemy. Intelligence shows where the next insect wave is coming from. The rest is on you.

  • FIGHT THROUGH THE NIGHT. Command your mech squad in tactical turn-based grid combat until you break the swarm’s back. Lose the base, lose the contract.

Galactic Mining Industries pays good money once the operation hits its quota. Until then, the risk is yours.

Business is booming.

FULL MECH CONSTRUCTION

Equip Gauss cannons and put snipers on the watchtowers, attach jetpacks to drop units behind enemy lines, or power up double flamethrowers to meet the bugs head-on. Every part is modeled, so the mech you build is the mech you see.

Assemble your mechs piece by piece, swapping chassis, arms, legs, shoulder mounts, and internal cartridges. Bolt up to four weapons onto each mech. Attach micro-modules and upgrade randomized stats. Just try not to get the whole squad destroyed. You’ve got a contract to complete.

TACTICAL TURN-BASED STRATEGY

Hold the perimeter against an overwhelming enemy and use every turn to bleed the bugs dry. Your job is to stop the wave before it reaches and destroys the mining outpost.

Fight from behind cover. Rain grenades over walls and rocks, choke the battlefield with toxic smoke, and burn anything that gets too close. Hold the line until dawn, even if it means sacrificing one of your own. You’re not paid to be elegant. You’re paid to keep the drills running.

BASE BUILDING AND DEFENSE

Turn an exposed mining outpost into a fortress. Construct walls, gates, and watchtowers to slow down the swarm. Install automated turrets to cover the ground while your mechs are busy. Build power plants and drilling rigs to keep the whole thing running.

The bugs aren’t coming for your mechs, they’re coming for the whole dig. These outposts were built to move ore. You will rebuild them for war.

RESOURCE ECONOMY

Galactic Mining Industries didn’t fund this operation properly, and there’s never enough to go around. Build another turret or upgrade your best mech? Keep the lights on or power up a drilling rig? The suits outsourced the hard decisions along with everything else.

Then there’s Fibonite, harvested off the dead bugs. The same strange material that makes the swarm evolve will make your machines more powerful. Make sure you know what you’re spending it on.

ESCALATING ROGUELITE CAMPAIGN

The job moves you across moons and planets. You’ll set up shop across jungles, ice basins, lava lakes and acid pools, with new enemies waiting on every world. The client wants Xenoridium, but the swarm will kill to keep it.

Research carries over but each deployment gets more challenging. No contract stays simple for long, as every planet introduces deadlier foes, unexpected threats, and colossal apex predators. Do your best to get paid, will you?

Somewhere up the chain, someone is deciding this quarter is going well.

LEAD THE MECH SQUAD. KEEP THE CLIENT HAPPY. WISHLIST STEEL CORE NOW.
