We've all been there. You hit a boss you can't crack, or a quest that won't tell you where to go next — so you alt-tab to look it up on Google or a wiki, dig through three ad-covered pages, and by the time you tab back the game's minimized and you've half-forgotten what you read.

OverlayGG fixes that. It's a small, transparent overlay window that sits on top of your game and gives you instant access to 100,000+ step-by-step guides across more than 120 games. Pull up what you need, glance at it without leaving the game, and hotkey it away when you're done.

WHAT'S INSIDE

- Massive guide library. 100,000+ walkthroughs covering more than 120 games — boss fights, raid encounters, character builds, crafting recipes, achievement chains, hidden quests, faction questlines, build orders, settings tweaks, and more.

- Instant search. A 5-layer matching engine handles typos, abbreviations, and partial names. Search "tarkov labs key" or "elden ring scarlet rot" or just "malenia" — it figures out what you mean.

- Stays out of your way. Lock it (default \) and the overlay stays visible while your clicks pass straight through to the game; unlock the same key the moment you want to scroll, search, or take notes. A second hotkey hides it entirely (default F4), tucking it to the system tray until you click the taskbar, press the key, or use the tray menu to bring it back. Both keys are fully configurable.

- Featherlight. Uses around 200 MB of memory — around 7× less than a single browser tab (a plain Google search tab can eat ~1.4 GB). It sips resources so your game keeps the frames.

- Safe Mode backup. In the rare event the overlay won't run on your setup, a built-in Safe Mode opens OverlayGG as a plain desktop window — no transparency, no always-on-top, no global hooks — so you still get the full guide library on a second monitor or beside your game.

- Personal notes. Build planning, loadout reminders, a friend's voice-chat tips — keep your own notes alongside the official guides.

- Favorites. Star the guides you keep coming back to. They sit one tap away.

HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS

Bring up the search panel, type what you need, pick a guide, and the steps appear right in the overlay — the text walkthrough stays put, so you never leave your game to read it. Run it on top of your game or on a second monitor, whichever you prefer. (If a guide references a YouTube video and you want to watch the full thing, that one click opens your default browser, but everything written stays in the overlay.)

Includes guides for popular non-Steam games too. OverlayGG runs on top of any game on your PC, no matter where you bought it — so a lot of the titles above aren't even on Steam (Minecraft, League of Legends, Valorant, Genshin Impact, World of Warcraft, Old School RuneScape, and Roblox games like Grow a Garden and Blox Fruits all run through their own launchers), and the overlay works with them just the same.

We're a player-built tool that points you at public knowledge in a faster, smarter way — the same way Prima strategy guides did for the previous twenty years.
