Why Early Access?

“Dear players, we are offering you this game in early access because we want to build it together with your feedback. We deeply value the input from those who enjoy the survivor game genre, as it allows us to blend your ideas with our fresh, new concepts. Together, we will create the final product, the 1.0 version of the game. We also want to make the best Backrooms roguelite and survivor game ever created. We know that you are a demanding audience, and we truly want to meet each one of your expectations as players for this genre.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This game will be in early access for approximately 4 to 5 months. And, if we finish it earlier, we will release it. However, we want to stay as connected as possible with your feedback, so we will take the time needed to deliver the best product and the best roguelite set in the Backrooms ever made.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The differences between the early access and the final version we expect to be those that we have defined as goals. That is, to increase the number of upgrades, expand the playable areas, that is, the arenas, and, consequently, increase the variety of enemies, as well as the number of bosses and ultimate abilities. These are improvements we plan to update and refine in the future, as well as solve any issues that arise along the way. However, we want the final versions to have better features in terms of quantity, variety, and content volume, and, of course, that users help us build the final product based on their feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game features a game mode in an arena style, within the roguelite subgenre, based on survivor-type mechanics. In this mode, the player must face waves of enemies for 25 minutes until reaching the final boss. The waves include creatures from the Backrooms universe, as well as original enemies, each with unique characteristics, abilities, and behaviors. Among them, there are elite enemies, which are more difficult to defeat. The protagonist, who fell into the Backrooms, must escape by overcoming the waves and the final boss. The character moves in eight directions, has a range of abilities, and by defeating enemies, they level up, gaining upgrades. Additionally, the main character's mechanics are based on a dash, and there is also a menu where you can view your inventory. The upgrades for leveling up are chosen by you: a panel appears with three upgrades, and you select the one that best suits your strategy as you level up. Currently, the game offers two fully explorable arenas: the Lobby and the Pool Rooms. In these arenas, you can buy upgrades at phone booths scattered throughout the level and build a customized build. There are five combinable abilities, allowing you to create a very dynamic and exciting experience. It's the best option to dive into the Backrooms, enjoy waves of enemies, and have an absolute blast doing so.

The main character's abilities consist primarily of the following: a basic shooting ability, since the game is a shooter; this ability can be triggered with an action button. The second ability is a set of grenades that you can throw, which explode after a moment in a specific area. The third ability is a steam gauntlet, which launches a large wave of steam, pushing and damaging nearby enemies. This ability can also be combined with the second ability, making, for example, the gauntlet throw the grenades farther, increasing their range against enemies. The fourth ability is a set of batteries with magnets, which generate stunning waves and electricity in a specific area, attracting characters and simultaneously electrocuting and paralyzing them for a few seconds. The last ability is one you can choose: all bosses will give you an upgrade, a super ability, which you can place in the super ability or ultimate ability slot. All these abilities can be executed with an action button. And now, let’s talk about the upgrades. The upgrades, in this early access, are 20. These 20 upgrades are stackable and scalable with each other, providing a lot of versatility to the gameplay, making it a very frenetic and fun game, in the pure style of great roguelites, such as Hades, or games with very deep gameplay and many fun abilities.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes, the price will be different, as the game will grow significantly during the early access version, at least in a considerable way. However, although the price will increase, it will not be a huge jump; it will be proportional to the content that we add.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to provide the community with tools to give us feedback through updates. They will be able to create conversations and threads in the updates. We also want to include, from time to time, some surveys if possible, and we are open to their comments and feedback through the meeting point, without any filters. Feel free to comment on what you see as necessary and right to add to the game. We will study each idea and adjust each need; however, it goes without saying that we will not be able to implement all the ideas you give us, as the game has a main vision that we need and want to fulfill, along with our own personal and creative ideas, which are one of the main pillars for the creation of this roguelite. We will take your ideas, but we will not follow them all to the letter; we will make a blend so that the best possible outcome is achieved.
