What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm making The Divided on my own. It's reached the point where I need to see how other people play it — what they enjoy, where they get stuck, and what stops being fun after a few runs.

There's more content I want to add, but I also want time to work on the game with feedback from people playing it, especially in co-op.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Around 6–12 months is the current plan. That could change depending on how much work the game needs along the way.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I'd like to add more missions, places to explore, weapons, and enemy types, including more bosses. I also plan to expand crafting and trading.

Some of the work will be improving what's already there. Combat, dogs, progression, and co-op all need continued attention as more people play. What gets worked on first will partly depend on that feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“You can play solo or with up to three friends, take missions from the hideout, collect loot, and try to get out alive. Back at camp, you can stash supplies, trade, craft, and upgrade your gear.

Melee combat, guns, bows, stealth, lockpicking, vehicles, and the four skill branches are already in place. You can also adopt and customize a dog, bring it on missions, and teach it new abilities as it levels up.

The game is still unfinished. Expect bugs, rough edges, and balance changes while I add content and work on performance and co-op reliability.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I haven't decided yet. If I decide to change the price, I'll announce it beforehand. Buying during Early Access includes the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be reading feedback and bug reports on Steam Discussions and posting updates through Steam announcements.

Tell me what happened on your run, what felt unfair, or what you wanted to do but couldn't. Clips and detailed bug reports are especially useful when I'm trying to reproduce a problem. I can't add every suggestion, but that feedback will help me decide what needs work next.”

About This Game

The world fell apart. Some survived. Some didn't. Some got back up.

The Divided is a co-op extraction action-RPG for 1–4 players, set in the slow, dangerous aftermath of a collapse no one fully understands. Deploy from your fortified hideout into hostile territory, push toward the objective, loot what the dead left behind — and make it back alive. Sometimes you don't.

Combat with weight.
Melee is the path of the prepared: light and heavy attacks that chain into combos, stamina worth respecting, and well-timed dodges, parries, and counters that turn a fight. Lock on, find your opening, and make every clean impact land. Crouch through danger with a bow, or bring a gun for when the plan falls apart. Every shot pushes noise into the world, and everything out there is listening.

A dog worth coming home with.
Adopt, name, and customize your own dog, then take them into the field. Give orders, fight together, and train them as they gain experience. Learned abilities let them guard you when you're down, drag enemies off their feet, draw threats away with a bark, or help with a quiet takedown. When they go down, it's your turn to watch over them.

Risk what you carry.
Everything in your backpack is lost when you die. Your equipped quickslots and XP survive; your haul doesn't. Search abandoned buildings, pick locks while someone watches your back, and decide whether one more room is worth it. Extract with your supplies, stash them, and turn scavenged scraps into something that might keep you alive next time.

Build your survivor.
Develop your skills across Blade, Shadow, Iron, and Grit — melee, stealth, firearms, and survival. Find field manuals to unlock powerful specializations, discover crafting recipes, and fit permanent kit upgrades at the hideout. There's more than one way to survive, and your squad doesn't need four people with the same plan.

A world with moods.
Sun-shafted forests, choking dust storms, blood-red contamination zones, cold blue nights. The infected are everywhere. The Containment patrols are worse — they shoot back.

Built for a team.
Revive fallen friends, share loot, and pile into cars and buggies for the long stretches between contacts. Cover someone picking a lock. Help them get their dog back on its feet. Noise travels through the world the same way for everyone — your trigger discipline is your squad's problem too. Solo is possible. Co-op is how it's meant to be played.

Key features

  • Extraction co-op for 1–4 players — deploy, complete missions, fight or sneak, loot, and extract; death costs your backpack haul
  • Weighty, deliberate melee — combos, stamina, dodges, parries, counters, lock-on, and hit-stop that makes clean impacts land
  • Stealth and archery — crouch past threats, line up bow and crossbow shots, and strike before enemies know you're there
  • Guns that attract exactly the attention they deserve — noise travels through the world, drawing danger toward the fight
  • Dog companions — choose your dog's breed and appearance, give commands, develop their abilities, and keep each other alive
  • Enemies worth fearing — hordes of infected, mutants, and armed Containment patrols
  • Scavenging under pressure — search buildings and pick locks while the world keeps moving around you
  • A hideout to return to — stash your haul, trade with survivors, craft supplies, discover recipes, fit permanent upgrades, and prepare for the next mission
  • Progression that sticks — shape your build across four skill branches and find field manuals to unlock specializations; equipped quickslots and XP survive death
  • Vehicles for the long haul — cars and buggies, driven badly, together
