What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I wanted to get the game uploaded to Steam as early as possible because I wanted to be able to receive as much feedback from players as I could, and be able to implement that into the game as I develop it. This is my first time making a full game, so any and all feedback will be appreciated, and very likely taken into account as I update the game throughout Early Access!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I would estimate about 1-2 years, though that really depends on how much time I have to spend on building the game. I will be releasing monthly updates continuously throughout Early Access, though I'm not making any promises on how much content each update will contain. I do have a general idea how long I want the full game to be, so once I've reached that length it'll be done, however many updates that takes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan for the full version of the game to both be more polished overall, as well as contain more content. The first part of that statement entails adding proper animations to both the player and enemies, replacing all placeholder sprites with new ones, and changing a few soundtracks to better fit the area they are found in. The second part means that I'm planning to add a few more areas to the game, with new enemies, bosses, mechanics, and (possibly) a new player weapon. Also, an actual proper story and lore.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently, the game only has 2 areas, the first of which I think of as the tutorial. There are a few placeholders sprites (though they mostly blend in with the real ones), one weapon choice, a few unique enemies, and a little bit of extremely vague lore here and there.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, the game will still be free. I made this game for fun as a passion project, and I uploaded to Steam in the hopes of accomplishing 2 things. One, I want feedback from players so I can make the game even better, and two, I just want for people to have fun with the game that I made.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be listening to player feedback very attentively throughout the Early Access of the game, and I hope to take it into consideration as I make my monthly updates to the game. So, if you have an idea for a change or a feature, please leave a Steam review talking about it, and there's a decent chance you'll see it in the next update!”

About This Game

Blooming Winter is a simple top-down dungeon crawler (I think that's the correct term here?) game, where you explore the gardens of a seemingly abandoned castle. The game starts off being linear in nature, though it then changes to allow you to choose the order you complete challenges in non-linearly. As of right now, the game only contains 2 areas, and one of those is the tutorial. I'll be adding a few more areas to the game throughout Early Access, and once that's done I'll hopefully have something better to write here!
