About This Game

Mindjack is a story-driven mystery and deduction game. Your friend vanishes without warning, and you are pulled into an investigation where nothing is what it seems. You move between family, the police, and shadowy institutions—gathering evidence, piecing together deductions, and making critical calls under time pressure. Every choice can shift your relationships with others and steer you toward a different ending.

Story

Roughly sixty years ago, humanity began picking up a strange signal on a particular radio band. Exposure to this frequency heightens the senses and leaves people feeling energized and uplifted.

Humans built dedicated terminals to receive this band. As those terminals spread, people spent more and more time tuned in. Recent research suggests that prolonged exposure can erode a person’s sense of self. Public-health agencies have begun recommending limits on how long anyone should listen.

A new kind of facility—the “mind optimization center”—has risen to prominence, promising to help adolescents break their “frequency addiction” through “treatment.” Rumors of abuse and worse have followed these centers for years. One day, you receive a cry for help.

Your friend has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. A network of relationships that once looked calm starts to fracture. As you dig deeper, family secrets, police records, and institutional leads contradict one another. You must sort truth from deception in a flood of new evidence, reconstruct what really happened, and decide whom to trust—and what to expose.

Character Progression

This game uses narrative progression rather than traditional leveling:

  • Your evidence chain grows more complete as you investigate.

  • Your trust with key characters—including people tied to your missing friend—changes based on your choices.

  • New story beats and endings unlock depending on how you play.

Core Gameplay

  • Clue gathering and investigation — Earn clues and items through story scenes, environmental investigation, and key conversations.

  • Deduction and combination — Combine clues and items to form new conclusions and advance main objectives.

  • Branching paths — Different approaches (pure deduction, police cooperation, relationship-driven routes, and more) trigger different events and outcomes.

  • Time windows and deadlines — Some goals must be met within a limited in-game window; missing them can lead to story consequences or bad endings.

  • Story-driven mini-interactions — Light puzzles and interactive beats woven into the main investigation for stronger immersion.

Mask Owl.

Take off the mask

Perhaps you do not even know who you are.

But when you put on a mask—

when you meet others wearing someone else’s face—you become someone else.

You may learn what you were never meant to know, and you will face trials you were never meant to bear.

Crisis, whirlpool, anguish, without end…

Assume false identities. Gather intelligence. Peer into the dark.

Perhaps you will save someone.

Perhaps you will fall straight into the abyss.
