Why Early Access?

“ScreenCade is a unique hybrid of a desktop utility and an interactive game suite. I'm launching in Early Access to gather feedback on performance and desktop compatibility across various Windows environments. Most importantly, we want to involve the community in deciding which games we add to the core and later as DLC.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I anticipate ScreenCade being in Early Access for approximately 6 to 12 months. This timeframe allows us to polish the core wallpaper technology, finalize our planned roster of games, and ensure the AI behavior is entertaining and balanced for all players.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to feature a larger collection of games available in the base and as DLC, expanded customization options for the wallpaper (such as custom color schemes and CRT filters), and more robust AI training patterns. We also intend to refine the Steam Leaderboard system to support seasonal resets and special community challenges.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version is fully functional. It includes four complete arcade experiences—Neon Battle, Void Drifter, Neon Hopper, and Neon Maze—all three with support for full AI automation, manual control, and global Steam Leaderboards.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will be active on the Steam Community Hub, looking for bug reports and feature requests. We are especially interested in community suggestions for new game modes and AI behaviors. Your feedback will directly shape our development roadmap.”

This game is a solo project, and to help bring this world to life, I’ve utilized generative AI as a digital collaborator. I use these tools to help generate [e.g., background assets, soundscapes, or UI elements] that would otherwise be out of reach for a team of one. Every AI-assisted asset has been carefully curated and edited by hand to ensure it fits the game's unique style and narrative.
