About This Demo

This game is currently in active development, with regular releases. We post devlogs will each release.

Hungry For Loot is a story driven RPG, where you play as a group of slimes. Your party sets out to gather for food your clan's winter stockpile, only to be attacked by invaders from far away. The further you go, the more you learn about these invaders and the threat they pose. Will your party rise up to the challenge and protect all the people of the forest?

You will be traveling from town to town, fighting invaders in turn based combat along the way. Your party comes from a slime clan that has the special talent to power up their abilities by consuming items. Eat your loot to power up your slimes and face the threat. You will also need to balance what loot you keep, and what is sent back home to feed your clan.

The game has a mostly linear story, with optional side quests. We are trying to mix RPG elements into a simple side-scrolling format that is easier to fit into a busy life, where you may not have enough time for an epic RPG. Instead of grinding at each new town you reach to level up and buy the latest equipment, you only visit each town once, and then move on. Other than the scripted events, all the NPCs in town can be interacted with from a menu, with color changing and icons to denote the ones you've spoken with, and those that have been updated. The fights will be balanced so you are always at a decent level for the foes you are facing, and it will be up to your tactics, and item usage, to win. Difficulty settings will be in the final version, including an easy "Story Mode".

We designed this to be playable completely with just mouse or touch, though keyboard & mouse together offers the best experience currently. Most things can also be done with just keyboard or controller, though they lack some of the shortcuts for now. We have a number of accessibility options in the Settings, with more to come.

This game has benefited greatly from the feedback of those who have played in the past. Help shape the future of our game by joining the development discussions. Let us know what you think. What do you like? What do you think could be improved? Are there any features you think are vital?

This demo currently contains all publicly available content, tailored to show off the core features. After Next Fest it will be cut down to be shorter, while continuing to be updated with the latest features. At that point we will be working towards releasing in Early Access, which will get the full content, as it is released.
