What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early Access allows updates to be made to the game based on player feedback as well as allowing time for updates to the in-game art, fixing unexpected bugs and implementing new in-game banners and badges as many more are planned.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We will be in early access approximately 1 calendar year with a June 2027 tentative release period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version of Taktari, the plan is to continue expanding and polishing the game based on development priorities and player feedback. Areas being considered for future updates include additional achievements, UI customization options, more enemy types, expanded boss rewards, new boss encounters, unlockable items, difficulty options, and further improvements to the game’s art, music, balance, and overall presentation.

Some features, content, and priorities may change during Early Access as the game develops. The goal is to use Early Access feedback to decide which additions and improvements best support the core gameplay experience.

We also plan to continue replacing any remaining generative AI-assisted placeholder assets with original or finalized artwork and audio where needed as development progresses.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of Taktari includes one fully playable game mode, currently structured as an endless run-based mode. This is the intended core mode for Early Access, where players build and upgrade a team of cards, battle through increasingly difficult encounters, collect new items, and continue progressing until their run ends.

At launch, the game includes nearly 50 playable player cards, over 80 Banners, over 70 Badges, and 21 unique bosses. Players can collect and use cards with different stats, elements, and action types, equip Banners and Badges to create different builds, and face boss encounters with unique effects and battle challenges.

The core gameplay systems are already implemented, including card battling, action selection, deck/team building, card upgrades, elemental matchups, boss battles, shop rewards, Banners, Badges, status effects, and run progression. The game is playable from start to finish in its current Early Access state, though balance, polish, additional content, quality-of-life improvements, and player-feedback-driven adjustments are still planned throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The game will not be priced differently during or after Early Access. The one-time purchase of the Early Access version will give you access to the full version on release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will be an important part of Taktari’s Early Access development. Players are encouraged to share feedback, bug reports, balance concerns, feature suggestions, and general impressions through the Steam Community forums, the in-game bug report form, or Taktari’s social media pages.

Taktari can be found on Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, and Twitter/X under the handle @taktarigame. Feedback from players will help guide future balance changes, bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, content updates, and overall polish during Early Access.

About This Game

Taktari is a roguelike auto-battler deck builder built around scaling strategy, build freedom, and endless replayability. Assemble your deck, power up your fighters, and battle through increasingly difficult enemies in a run-based experience where no two attempts play the same way.

Each card in your deck represents a fighter and contributes to your team’s strength in battle. As you progress, you will earn rewards and upgrades that allow you to shape your build in different directions. Strengthen your entire deck with Banners, specialize individual cards with powerful Badges, and push your strategy further with Chakras and Tokens. Choosing the right upgrades is the key to surviving as enemies grow stronger with every stage.

Your goal is to defeat the escalating challenge and clear Level 7, completing the core run. But the journey does not have to end there — once Level 8 is beaten, you can continue into Endless Mode and see how far your build can go against ever-scaling enemies and powerful bosses.

Taktari is built for experimentation. There is no single “correct” way to play, and every run offers new opportunities to create different synergies, try new upgrade paths, and discover powerful combinations. Whether you prefer balanced deck-wide bonuses or building around a few dominant cards, the game rewards creative play and adaptation.

Beyond its gameplay, Taktari stands out through its identity and atmosphere. Featuring a cast centered on melanin-rich characters with influences from African and African American naming and culture, alongside a fantasy-inspired soundtrack with strong African influence, Taktari delivers a style that aims to feel fresh and distinctive within the genre.
