About This Game

Judicial Designer is a management game where you are given a job as your local courthouse's administrator. Build and expand the courthouse from a small town hearings court to handling high-profile criminal cases. Balance expansion, reputation and budget in a system relying on the slow bureaucracy of government and the complexities of the legal system.

Many different people pass through a courthouse, meet their varying needs and expectations. From defendants held in custody to plaintiffs, legal-teams, jurors and spectators, people have simulated needs that impact your overall reputation, and provide potential for further revenue raising.

You build the courthouse, designing to support optimal operations and to support the integrity of the legal process. Select each individual detail, from jury-boxes and judge benches to a variety of decoration items. Build across multiple-floors and expand upwards, or expand into a sprawling suburban courthouse over a single level.

Balance the case backlog, choose to balance speed and efficiency or the importance of fair and just trials. Some management can be outsourced to your employees, but some cannot. Provide for the needs of both detained defendants, staff, visiting legal teams and spectators. Manage press relations and ensure that privacy is upheld within your courthouse.

Controlling outcomes is not a part of the job, except for the acceptance of the occasional bribe. Watch as your judges and juries hand down verdicts, and the 'cogs of justice' turn slowly through your courthouse.

  • Courthouse building and furnishing, across multiple floor-levels

  • Staff hiring, management and training

  • Proceeding management (including trials, small claims hearings and criminal hearings)

  • Simulated spectators, witnesses and legal teams

  • Reputation in the form of public, defense and prosecution/plaintiff reputation.

  • Progression through 'lobbying', resembling a research mechanic.

Mature content in the form of written reference to real-world crimes, including violence and drug/alcohol related offences. The game does not depict these offences in a favourable manner.
