Cast the Spark of Life into an empty ocean and watch deep time do the rest. Microbes become fish, fish crawl ashore, and one day something wakes up and builds a civilization. Nudge the world with god powers, then see if anyone makes it to the stars.

About This Game

Biosphere Simulator is a god game about deep time. You start with a barren world and one power: the Spark of Life. Cast it into the ocean, set the clock running, ten years a step or ten thousand, and watch what grows.

Microbes become algae, fungi, worms and fish. Fish crawl onto land. Every species mutates, spreads, competes and dies out on its own terms, and no two worlds turn out the same.

Nothing is scripted. Each species is born from the one before it, with its own name, traits and range across fifteen kinds of terrain, from shallow seas and swamps to tundra, desert and volcanic rock. Predators chase prey, plants and algae fill the air with oxygen, and when the air runs thin the biggest animals suffocate first.

Follow it as it happens. The Family Tree traces every branch back to the first microbe, and the Fossil Record keeps everything that didn't make it.

Sooner or later, something gets smart, and it doesn't have to be a mammal. Ten lineages can cross the threshold of mind: fish, birds, insects, fungi, plants, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates, mammals, even microbes. Each one builds cities that look like it: mushroom towns for fungi, feather-roofed towers for birds.

Civilizations found cities, farm the land, tame animals, build roads, trade, go to war and raise wonders. They climb from the Stone Age to the Interstellar Age, and the run ends in triumph when one of them finishes the Seed Ark and leaves the world behind.

Or they never get there. Empires collapse, and a world can lose every civilization it ever had.

You can't command your creatures, but you can change the world they live in. Spend Divine Energy on ten god powers: warm the planet with a Thermal Vent, cool it with an Ice Crystal, raise the oxygen, seed nutrients, condense water, shield the ozone, or speed up mutation itself.

The world pushes back. Ice ages, supervolcanoes, meteor strikes, pandemics, gamma-ray bursts and more than twenty other events can reshape everything in an instant.

  • Seed life on five kinds of world: Earth-like, Tropical Paradise, Temperate Haven, Archipelago and Ocean World

  • Raise sentience in any of ten lineages, each with its own cities

  • Watch rival civilizations farm, trade, fight and build 34 different wonders

  • Study your world through the Family Tree, Dynasties, Almanac, Population Timeline and State of the World
