What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Having a community of interested people accompany the development is great! It enables me to get feedback on the features that get added and changes that are made. This ultimately can help to make a better game.

I would also like to learn more about what features are useful to the community and establish a 'safe-zone' environment for developing new features.

I try to focus on developing this game as much as possible and at the same time want to give you the opportunity to support the process!

To learn more about Early Access, please see the official Early Access FAQ.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Roughly until the first half of 2019.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I aim to create a solid experience that offers a lot of replay value.

Here a few few things that I am planning to implement:
  • more power ups / collectibles
  • greater variety of enemies with unique AI behavior
  • 2-4 bosses with unique behavior
  • additional location settings and environments
  • sound FX - a lot...
  • awesome music and ambient sounds
  • cool little background story's that render the world

I do have a pretty good idea of the features that I want to implement and how long that will take due to my experience in game development but if all fails then I will still do my best to deliver a compact version of the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This is the first Early Access Version!

Tempe of Rust has been in development since 2015 and is now getting to a point where I feel comfortable to involve those that have some imagination and enjoy watching the game grow.

I have built most of the underlying architecture and logic needed and have a few areas set up to play around and test gameplay.

The current version has a starting area that can be explored and a first mission to test combat and most basic game mechanics. You can unlock further demonstrative locations by defeating special enemies.

Internally the game does have much more content that will be unlocked with future updates. That content isn't close to polished yet and I try my best to release playable and stable versions.

Sound fx and music are mostly missing. I only have footsteps and other test sounds at the moment.

Player progression is not being saved right now.

(more specifics in the news announcements)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I will raise the price after Early Access.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I read the feedback provided in the comments and discussions and will ask questions to specific features. This way I hope to get an idea of how the current state of the game is perceived. (I don't answer to every post but I do my best to read them)

You can also jump to the official discussions right now and tell me about your first impressions!
What gets you exited about this game?

NOTE: I do not obey to demands or feature requests. I consider to implement suggestions in a way that I choose beneficial for the game and also remove them again anytime for the same reason.”

This won't be easy...

I really want to make this game. But it's been quite a ruff ride and I cannot afford the development alone any longer. So I need your help to make this happen!

I'm preparing a Kickstarter campaign to find out if there are enough people out there that can and will support me on this journey. Since the game is free on PC (and that won't change) I'm in a strange situation: It's a bit hard to come up with rewards.

It's naive of me, I know that for sure. But what would Indie life be without trying to do things different?

So I'm thinking of offering YOU some rewards that can actually shape the game and let YOU be part of the game world too. Either by suggesting weapons and power ups or getting your name on an NPC, becoming a quest-giver or let me add another playable character and you name it!

What else could you imagine might be worth a few bucks to help me make this game? Please let me know in the comments or start a discussion in the game hub about what features you wold like to see in the game!
