WE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO CALL THIS GAME [So... we just left it like this!]
A comedic meta Visual Novel with a cinematic presentation and an interactive world where everything responds to your clicks, while you and the characters constantly blur the boundaries between the story, the creative process, and reality itself.

Informace o hře

Let this be acknowledged as the official commencement of this recording...

and let the solemnity of this occasion be duly observed.

Thou dost open thine eyes, only to find thy gaze resting upon an unfamiliar ceiling.

The chamber... is of the utmost simplicity. A bed for repose, a gentle light, and a most peculiar sensation upon awakening, as though time itself had, for but a fleeting moment, surrendered its very form.

There is, however, one most distressing truth: thou rememberest not how thou camest to this place. More troubling still... a great many of thine own memories seem somehow beyond thy reach.

Whilst thou dost strive to gather thy scattered thoughts, two diminutive beings appear at thy side. Their conduct is enough to inspire no small measure of bewilderment: they address thee as though thy acquaintance were of ancient standing, engage one another in spirited dispute, indulge in frivolous jests, and—most curious of all—without delay begin discoursing upon some mysterious creative obligation. They speak of a sacred deadline beyond which there is no reprieve. Of a certain arbiter of form and substance. And of the scant few days remaining unto thee in which to commence the creation of an illustrated work.

Thou art... a chronicler of drawings. At least, so they insist.

And, to thine own astonishment... their claim bears a most unsettling ring of truth.

Girl // A: "Um... I really don't want to interrupt your, uh... 'Official Record of the World's Account' or whatever..."

Girl // A: "But... the way you write makes it really hard to understand what you're even trying to say..."

Girl // B: "Naturally! Having now concluded my account, I humbly beg thy forgiveness should my manner of speech have proven insufficiently refined."

Girl // A: "Okay... let me try that again. This time in plain human."

If we're keeping it super simple, you play as the main character, who exists in two forms—a male one and a female one. It's not just a cosmetic choice, either. They're two distinct personalities that gradually reveal themselves as the story unfolds. Sometimes you'll catch yourself reacting to things differently than before. Other times, you'll notice the characters themselves start treating you differently.

As you continue working on your manga, more and more new characters begin showing up in your everyday life. They're vibrant, full of personality, and act like they know this world better than you do.

If we're being honest, at some point it becomes impossible to tell who's actually part of your work, who's some kind of game anomaly, and who's a real living being. Oh, and by the way—you can click on pretty much any object in the game and see how it reacts. Assuming the developer isn't just messing with all of us about that.

The illustrations change. The atmosphere grows heavier. Sometimes it even starts to feel like the world around you is adapting to what's happening, rather than the other way around. But no one ever tries to explain it—not you, and not the people standing beside you.

The two strange little creatures stay by your side through it all. They comment on everything, constantly ruin the dramatic moments, sometimes say things that are way too harsh... and other times things that are just painfully cringe. Every now and then, it feels like they don't see what's happening as merely part of a story... but as something far greater.

Girl // B: "Pray tell, young lady... wouldst thou permit me to continue the narration?"

Girl // A: "B-But I was almost finished! There are only..."

Girl // B: "Precisely for that reason, I would see them presented with the respect they rightfully deserve."

The distinguished features of this creative undertaking:

        * An intriguing tale of life and death, of rebirth into another form of existence... a reflection of the very essence that lies at the heart of this narrative.

        * Living, enchanted illustrations, that thy eyes may be granted the privilege of witnessing a refined visual portrayal of the events that unfold.

        * Beautiful melodies, imbued with the fantastical motifs of grand instrumental compositions, accompanying the passage of this tale as it journeys through the ages.

        * The privilege to set forth upon the path of choice by thine own will, and to bear the consequences of thy decisions... each one shaping the course of thy fate.

        * Within this tale, by a most unfortunate inevitability, the characters do not adhere to the ordained progression of the narrative. Thus, the events that unfold may not entirely align with the intentions of the chronicler.

        * Thou shalt be granted leave to turn thy attention toward any object destined to grace this stage, and by thy touch awaken its response. For what reason did the creator choose such an unconventional path? Most likely... so that the boundary between thyself and this world might become ever less discernible.
