What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The Capitalist is a deep private equity simulator, and a game about building a financial empire only gets better when real players stress-test its economy. The core loop – sourcing deals, structuring buyouts, turning companies around, and exiting for a profit – is complete and fun today. We're using Early Access to balance the simulation, harden edge cases, and let the community shape which industries, mechanics, and strategic systems we build next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“2-4 months”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to broaden and deepen the simulation over time. Areas we intend to expand include: more industries, deal sources, and value-creation initiatives; richer public-company mechanics after an IPO (share price, reporting, ongoing management); more market and macro-economic events; additional career paths, goals, and end-game content; ongoing economy and balance tuning; further UI/UX polish; more languages; and Steam Deck / controller support. We plan to prioritize this list based on what players ask for most.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The full core loop is playable today. You can source deals from public boards, brokers, and proprietary channels; run due diligence; structure leveraged buyouts; grow companies through operational initiatives and buy-and-build acquisitions; manage debt, covenants, and monthly capital budgets; and exit via a strategic sale or IPO. It ships with multiple starting modes (guided career, hard mode, and sandbox), a detailed financial model, save/load, and a full settings menu. It's already content-rich, but the economy is still being balanced and you should expect some rough edges and frequent tuning updates.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we add content and features throughout Early Access. Buying during Early Access gets you the game at its lowest price and directly supports its development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to let the community decide which industries, mechanics, strategic systems and features we build next.”

About This Game

Welcome to the world of high finance. The Capitalist is a deep economic strategy game where you build and manage your own Private Equity firm. You aren't just clicking to make numbers go up; you are raising funds, negotiating deals, and turning around struggling companies. Take control of a professional financial terminal, use real-world investment strategies, and turn millions of investor capital into billions. Red means default. Green means a massive payout.

Core Features:

  • Manage Investor Funds: You don’t start with infinite money. Raise capital from institutional investors to launch your funds. Your goal is to buy companies, grow them, and sell them to return real cash to your investors. Earn your management fees to keep the lights on, but the real wealth comes from your performance bonus (Carried Interest) on successful exits.

  • Scout for the Perfect Deal: Set up specific parameters for your analysts to find undervalued businesses. Review anonymous "blind teasers" and sign NDAs to reveal their true financial metrics. Conduct deep due diligence to uncover hidden debts and operational flaws before you write the check.

  • Master Leveraged Buyouts: Use a mix of your fund's cash and bank loans (leverage) to acquire targets. Debt boosts your potential returns, but it increases your risk. If the company fails to generate enough cash to pay the interest, the bank will step in, and a debt spiral is imminent.

  • Tense Negotiations: Buying a company is a strategic tug-of-war. Make your bids and counteroffers carefully. Push the seller too hard with lowball offers or stall the audit process, and their patience will run out, killing the deal forever.

  • Fix and Flip Companies: Once you own a business, it’s time to fix it. Fire underperforming management, hire top-tier CEOs, and cut unnecessary costs. Transform a struggling asset into a highly profitable market leader, then sell it to the highest bidder for a massive premium.

Buy. Fix. Sell. Profit.
