About This Game

Into the Deep End is the a psychological horror vr exploration game inspired by the backrooms or more specifically the poolrooms which is apart of the backrooms.

Into the deep end is set in a variation of a sublevel of the poolrooms known as "the deep end" or better known on the wiki as level 37.1. this variation of the "the deep end" does not contain the Hydrolitis Plague which lore wise makes the level unexplorable. you are free to explore the liminal spaces of the deep end and see if there's any new undiscovered sublevels of this sublevel! (wait would that make it a sub-sub level?)

rather than taking place on a static premade map like many other backrooms games. Into the deep end is set in procedurally generated map to really explore the concept of "procedural infinity" whilst adding in your occasional scares to keep you on your toes.

whilst there is no fixed progression or "way forwards" the overarching task is to wander the liminal rooms of "The Deep End" in search of an exit to a safe level of the backrooms. where you will meet up with your research team to document what you saw in the deep end

feature list

  • not a maze! Into the deep end is not a maze where there is only one entrance and exit. Much like the rest of the backrooms there is potentially endless amount of exits. however you need to find them first.

  • procedural generation. Into the deep end aim to constantly improve its procedural generation. a lot of effort goes into developing and innovating its map generation so each room can be unique in both decoration and architecture. who knows what you will find in each room!

  • no correct way forwards. Into the deep end doesn't follow linear progression. there is no correct way to play the game. play the game how you want to play!

  • vibe?.  There are a lot of places that can be considered "safe" within this version of the deep end, you may find a cool place to vibe, you will be given a way to spawn props in order to decorate these places you wanna relax in

  • entities? that's for you to find out!

IM NOT SCARED OF THE DARK. IM SCARED OF WHATS IN THE DARK.

there's an unintended feature that may cause auditory or visual hallucination similar to the ganzfeld effect. haven't nailed if its the ganzfeld effect doing this or something else but take caution when playing in the super dark area's for long amounts of time.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

some darker area's are potentially subjected to the ganzfeld effect which can cause auditary and visual hallucinations.
