About This Game

The network is under attack. Only the Salad Squad stands between order and total system failure.

Layer Defender is a single-player isometric horde survivor built in Unreal Engine 5. Phishing schools, Ransomware juggernauts, and elite Cyber Ninjas flood the arena in escalating waves. You auto-fire. You dodge. You choose your upgrades wisely — and sometimes you make desperate decisions that cost you dearly.

Build your squad. Sacrifice your layers.

You start as the Onion — balanced, resilient, and built around the art of layered defence. Seven layers stand between you and oblivion. But those layers are also your lifeline to something more. Sacrifice them between waves to deploy a Special Support Module — a teammate with abilities that can turn the tide.

Carrot sniffs out cloaked Rootkit threats before they reach you. Chili brings increased fire damage and chaos. Garlic slowly restores your defensive layers over time. Pumpkin absorbs punishment that would flatten anyone else. Tomato leaves acid wherever it goes — and slows anything caught in it. Considers this a feature, not a bug.

Onion plus three squad slots per run. Choose who you trust with your survival.

Every layer counts.

Layers aren't just a health buffer — they're your post-wave recovery mechanic. The more you sacrifice for squad power, the less health you recover at wave end. Push too hard too fast and you'll limp into the later waves on fumes. Survive long enough and layers are fully restored before boss fights. If you make it that far.

Upgrade. Adapt. Survive.

Between every wave, choose one of three upgrade cards — incendiary rounds, piercing bullets, emergency revives, or a dozen other options that change how your run plays out. No two runs play the same way.

Explore varied environments.

Fight through distinctly different arenas — warehouses, airports, temples and more. Each environment brings its own layout, chokepoints, and interactive elements. Doors, switches, and the architecture itself become part of your strategy.

Features:

  • Isometric horde survival with wave-based escalation

  • 6 playable characters — each with 2 active abilities and a unique passive

  • 30 persistent progression upgrades

  • Cyber threat enemy roster — Phishlings, Rootkits, Ransomware, APT Stalkers and more

  • Varied environments with interactive elements
