What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We want Nine to Never to evolve alongside our players. Early Access will allow us to receive feedback on the overall experience, puzzles, story pacing, and player choices while we continue developing the game.

Our goal is to use this feedback to improve and polish the game before its full release, while staying true to the vision and atmosphere that define Nine to Never.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently estimate that Nine to Never will remain in Early Access until approximately the first quarter of 2027. However, this estimate may change depending on the progress of development and feedback from the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version represents an important part of the experience we want to build, while the full version will offer the complete Nine to Never experience: an immersive story where players will explore, solve puzzles, and make choices that can influence how the experience unfolds.

In the Early Access version, the opportunities for making choices will be more limited, as the remaining parts of the story and levels are still in development.

During Early Access, players will experience the introduction to the story, some of its core gameplay mechanics, and basic puzzles that serve as an introduction to the later parts of the game. Through future updates, we plan to expand the story and add new days, areas, conversations, puzzles, and Easter eggs, while continuing to improve the presentation and overall experience.

We will also use player feedback to identify areas that may need adjustments, such as pacing, puzzle difficulty, and the clarity of certain parts of the story.

The 1.0 release will represent the complete Nine to Never experience, with all planned core content, the complete main story, 5 levels at a higher level of polish, and improvements made throughout Early Access.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version showcases some of the game's early mechanics, such as interacting with characters and exploring the office.

At the moment, Early Access includes the first day of the week: Monday. As development progresses and we release new updates, additional days of the week will become available along with new story content.

Players should expect some parts of the game to change and expand significantly as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer Nine to Never at a lower Early Access price than the planned price for the full release. This price will remain in place during Early Access and will increase when the game reaches version 1.0.

Any price changes will be communicated in advance.

Players who purchase the game during Early Access will receive the full version of Nine to Never when it reaches its 1.0 release, without having to purchase the game again.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want the community to play an active role in the development of Nine to Never.

We will listen to player feedback through Steam Discussions, Discord, and our social media. We will use this feedback to identify issues, improve puzzles, adjust the pacing of the experience, and determine which areas need the most attention.

We will also share development updates, patch notes, and our plans for future versions.

While we will take community suggestions into consideration, some creative and narrative decisions will remain true to the original vision for the game.”

About This Game

Another Day in Paradise

It's Monday morning, and yet another week of work starts. Nothing new, just another work week. Will this hell ever end? Same tasks to perform, but you have a feeling that this week things might be... different?

Nine to Never is a short, monochromatic 2D puzzle-platformer, about Freeman, an ordinary office employee trapped in a routine where nine to five starts feeling more like nine to never.

After Monday you notice things in the office take a strange turn. Talk to your co-workers, explore the decrepit office building, finish your daily tasks, and uncover details that might be out of the ordinary.

Sometimes the way forward is hidden in the simplest actions. Move a box. Flip a light switch. Interact with the things around you. And sometimes, you have to fall into the void to find your way back.

But whatever you do, find a way out before the cycle begins again.

Features

  • Solve puzzles using the office items. Move boxes, flip switches, manipulate your surroundings, and discover unexpected ways to progress.

  • Fall into the void. Sometimes falling and going the wrong way is the only exit.

  • Explore a strange, monochromatic 2D office inspired by the look and feel of retro computer games.

  • Talk to your coworkers, listen to their complaints, and piece together what they know about the office and perhaps about you.

  • Immerse yourself in an original soundtrack accompanied by nostalgic computer sounds and an increasingly unsettling atmosphere.
