À propos de ce jeu

FRONTLINE MARSHAL is a real-time strategy game of World War II, fought at division scale on the real ground of Europe. Take command of the USA, Germany, the Soviet Union or France in the great battles of the war, each starting with every division where that day's staff maps put it. Then change what happened.

Hold the Soviet Union together in 1941, where Stalin lost whole armies in German pockets. Close the ring at Kursk in 1943, where the real German pincers never met. Drive the Americans into Germany sooner than they really got there.

Close the ring

Encirclement decided the war's biggest battles. Find the weak points on both sides of an enemy army, break through, and swing your spearheads round until they meet behind it. That is a pincer movement, and the ring it closes is an encirclement.

Inside the ring, no supply gets through. Trapped divisions run dry and cannot rebuild their strength. Cut off for long enough, a broken division surrenders and its men march into captivity. Close one pocket and a whole army is gone.

And the enemy can do it to you. Watch your flanks, keep a reserve, and know when to fall back before the ring closes.

Key features

  • Play any side. The USA, Germany, the Soviet Union or France, against a computer opponent.

  • Campaigns. Fight through the war as the USA, Germany or the Soviet Union, with goals measured against what really happened.

  • Real history. Starting positions read by hand from the German and American staff situation maps of the day.

  • Real ground. Europe built from real elevation, forests, towns, rivers and roads. Hills, forests and towns give cover. Roads are fast. Rivers slow a march, and an attack across one loses half its punch.

  • Weather and seasons. Mud bogs down trucks off the road. Winter snow slows everyone.

  • Orders, not micromanagement. Assault, Probe, Advance to contact, Hold, Delay, Disengage or Forced march. A division told to Hold digs in over several days.

  • Supply counted in days. A division that runs dry can no longer attack.

  • Breaking point. Hit a division in the flank and it breaks faster. A broken division routs for its own lines and rallies only once it recovers.

  • A living front. The front line is drawn live from who holds the ground, under fog of war. Pause at any time, or speed the war up.

Multiplayer: head-to-head 1v1 is in testing. Follow the game to hear whether it makes launch.
