The distant future. Maybe our world, likely not.

Hell Above throws you and your friends straight into the abyss. As a Poet of the remaining human survivors, you climb from the deepest pit toward whatever salvation might await above, only to face an unrelenting gauntlet of nightmarish bosses. Every encounter is brutal, every victory hard-earned, and death is only a temporary setback in this punishing co-op experience.

Jolly Cooperation Is Mandatory!:

Solo runs are possible but brutally difficult. True progress demands teamwork. Coordinate with up to three others to survive an ambush, solve the mysteries of the battle, and execute devastating combo attacks. Revive fallen allies and master the rhythm of co-op soulslike combat where one mistake can [and will] doom the entire party.

Poetry as Currency:

After surviving each horrific boss battle or traumatic event, your character instinctively writes a cryptic poem born from the trauma. It is the Poets duty to document "The Above". These verses become your only form of currency in this nightmarish realm. Spend them at strange vendor NPCs to acquire powerful weapons, cursed armor, healing items, and strange relics that twist your playstyle. The more terrifying the experience, the richer the poem and the better the gear you can afford.

Unraveling a Mystery:

The ascent is populated by deranged, poetic, and often hopeless inhabitants of the Inferno. Confront entities that may hold fragments of the larger truth. Piece together clues about why you’re climbing, what force trapped these souls in this divine comedy and whether reaching the top will grant freedom… or something far worse.

Low-Poly PS1 Nightmare:

Embrace the raw, nostalgic terror of chunky polygons, crunchy low-res textures, and deliberate camera angles that evoke classic survival horror. The art style perfectly captures the disorienting, fever-dream quality of ascending through Hell.

Progression & Replayability:

There is no Meta; you make it. Mix your items, weapons, and playstyle to invent and discover weird and novel ways to overcome the enemy. Experiment with different co-op roles to punish boss patterns.
