Lo que dicen los desarrolladores:

¿Por qué ofreces acceso anticipado?

«Why Early Access?

The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol is a small, co-op horror game developed by a solo developer. The core experience already works – you can host and join lobbies, explore the backrooms, avoid entities and try to escape – but a game like this lives or dies on how it feels to play with real people over time.

Early Access lets me test the game on a wider range of hardware and network setups, tune the difficulty and pacing, and see which scares, levels and mechanics actually work when players don’t know what is coming. I want to grow the game together with the community: fix bugs quickly, balance the sanity and entity behaviour, and add new levels and content based on what players enjoy (and what terrifies them the most).»

¿Cuánto tiempo va a estar este juego en acceso anticipado aproximadamente?

«Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

My current plan is to keep The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol in Early Access for roughly 6–12 months. I want to stay in Early Access until the core features are stable, online co-op works reliably for most players and the existing levels, entities and sanity systems feel polished.

If big issues appear or the community requests larger changes, the schedule may shift a bit – the goal is not a specific date, but to reach a point where the game feels solid and complete rather than experimental.»

¿Qué diferencias habrá entre la versión completa y la versión de acceso anticipado?

«For the full release I want The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol to feel much more polished than the Early Access version.
I plan to focus on:

Better overall performance and optimization, especially in online co-op.

Improved sound design (footsteps, ambience, creature audio, jump-scares and mix).

Tweaked and expanded game mechanics such as sanity, almond water, enemy behaviour and puzzles.

More reliable and natural-feeling physics and interactions (doors, props, ragdolls, etc.).

Higher quality 3D models, animations and environment details.

Depending on player feedback and how development goes, I would also like to add more levels, entities and events, but the main goal is to take everything that is already in the game and push it to a higher level of quality and stability for 1.0.»

¿Cuál es el estado actual de la versión de acceso anticipado?

«The current Early Access version is fully playable and already contains the complete core gameplay loop:
you can explore several backroom-style levels, search for keys, codes and items, manage your sanity with almond water and try to survive hostile entities in 1–4 player online co-op.

However, this is still an early build and you should expect bugs and rough edges.
There may be visual glitches, audio issues, occasional physics problems and rare disconnects in multiplayer.
Performance and balance are also still being tuned.

In short: the game is already playable and can be enjoyed with friends, but it is not yet polished and I rely on player feedback to find issues and improve it.»

¿El precio del juego será diferente durante y después del acceso anticipado?

«We currently do not plan to change the price between Early Access and full release.
The game is meant to cost the same before and after leaving Early Access, except for any regional adjustments or future store-wide sales.»

¿Cómo tienes planeado involucrar a la comunidad en tu proceso de desarrollo?

«We plan to involve the community mainly through our Discord (and feedback on Steam).
We’ll listen to bug reports and suggestions, prioritise fixes and improvements, and share patch notes for each update so players can see how their feedback shapes the game.»

Acerca de este juego

The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol is a co-op first-person horror game for 1–4 players, set in endless liminal “backrooms” where nothing makes sense and reality feels wrong.

You are not a soldier or a hero. You are just… stuck. Your only real weapons are your flashlight, almond water – and your friends.

THE PLAYER

You wake up in a cold, humming corridor with no idea how you got there. The rooms repeat, the lights flicker, and every sound echoes forever.

- You cannot hurt the monsters. There are no guns, no melee weapons, no way to fight back.

- You survive by listening carefully, moving slowly, closing doors and breaking line of sight.

- Almond water works as both healing and sanity. Run out, and the backrooms slowly drive you insane.

- Proximity voice chat–friendly gameplay: whisper, warn and coordinate with your team… or panic together when you hear something in the dark.

ENTITIES

You are not alone down here. Several different entities roam the halls, each with their own behaviour and sound design.

- Some hunt by sound and will react to your footsteps, doors and voice chat.

- Some prefer to stalk from a distance, slowly wearing down your sanity.

- Others simply appear where you don’t expect them, turning safe spaces into death traps.

None of them can be killed. Your only options are to hide, outsmart them and hope they choose someone else.

LEVELS

The backrooms are made up of interconnected levels: offices, storage areas, maintenance tunnels and completely abstract spaces that shouldn’t exist.

- Each level has its own layout style, lighting and soundscape.

- Important items (keys, codes, mechanical parts, almond water) can spawn in different preset locations each run.

- Small puzzles and environmental clues help you unlock new areas and shortcuts.

- Dead ends, fake exits and looping corridors play with your sense of direction and reality.

CO-OP HORROR

The game is designed primarily for co-op, but can be played solo if you want a harder, lonelier experience.

- 1–4 player online co-op (PvE only).

- Share information: read notes aloud, call out codes, mark doors and warn others when you see movement.

- Split up to search faster – or stay together and accept that progress will be slower but safer.

- When someone dies, the rest of the team has to decide if they push forward or try to bring them back.

GAMEPLAY LOOP

A typical run looks something like this:

- Wake up in the backrooms with nothing but a flashlight.

- Search for keys, codes, fuses, mechanical parts and almond water.

- Solve small environmental puzzles to open locked doors and activate machinery.

- Avoid or escape entities that patrol and react to your noise.

- Push deeper into new levels, where sanity drains faster and hiding spots become rarer.

- Eventually escape… or die and try again with a slightly different layout and item placement.

FEATURES

- Co-op first-person horror for 1–4 players.

- Dark, claustrophobic backrooms with an emphasis on atmosphere and sound.

- Enemies that cannot be killed – only avoided, tricked and outrun.

- Sanity and health tied to almond water; running out changes how the world feels and looks.

- Semi-randomized item and code locations for replayability.

- Sudden noises, blood, dead bodies and disturbing imagery.

If you enjoy tense co-op horror where you feel mostly defenceless, every sound matters and your sanity is always at risk, The Silent Expedition Echo Protocol is made for you.
