What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Monster Storm is being developed by a solo indie studio, Squirrel Works, and Early Access is the best way to build the game alongside the community. Because Monster Storm focuses on replayability, progression, and cooperative multiplayer, player feedback is extremely valuable for balancing weapons, talents, enemy difficulty, pacing, and long-term fun.

Early Access will allow real players to help shape the experience through feedback, bug reports, playtesting, and suggestions while new content is added regularly.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is for Monster Storm to remain in Early Access for approximately 6 months. This timeline may change depending on community feedback and development progress, but the goal is to reach a polished full release as efficiently as possible without rushing important improvements.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Monster Storm is planned to include significantly more content and polish than the Early Access version, including:

More enemy types and bosses
Additional maps and environments
More weapons, upgrades, and build options
Expanded progression systems
UI and quality-of-life improvements
Additional lore/worldbuilding elements
Ongoing balance improvements
Multiplayer improvements based on player feedback

The goal is for the full release to feel larger, more refined, and more content-rich while keeping the fast-paced core gameplay players enjoy.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already includes the core gameplay experience and is fully playable.

Current features include:

Main gameplay loop complete
Single-player support
Online co-op multiplayer
LAN co-op multiplayer
Procedurally generated levels
In-run leveling through souls and talents
Meta progression with unlocks and upgrades
Multiple weapons/items already available
Basic audio/music implementation
Auto-save system
Basic settings/options menu

The game is currently mostly stable, though players should expect ongoing balancing, new content additions, and occasional bugs as development continues.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pricing may increase as more content, features, and polish are added over the course of development and into full release. Supporting the game during Early Access helps fund continued development and rewards early supporters with the lowest entry price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback is a major part of Monster Storm’s development.

Players will be able to share suggestions, report bugs, discuss balance, and help guide future updates through:

Discord community discussions
Public playtests
Steam Community discussions
Frequent weekly updates during development

Because Monster Storm is focused on replayability and co-op fun, community input will directly help shape balance changes, new content priorities, and quality-of-life improvements throughout Early Access.”
