What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This game features nearly 300 different skills, all of which can be freely combined. One reason for this is that, given the nature of the game, it would take an enormous amount of time to balance all of these skills without input from the player community. Additionally, while nearly 300 skills are currently implemented, one of our goals is to increase that number in response to requests from the community. We plan to actively implement the skills and features that players who actually play the game come to desire. Furthermore, due to development time and budget constraints, there are many features that cannot be implemented by the official release date. While I will explain the specifics in other sections, there is certainly room to add features that, while not essential to the game, would make it more enjoyable. In this regard, I am confident that releasing the game via Early Access will allow us to provide a better experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect it to take anywhere from 3 to 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“All of the content listed below represents new features currently under consideration at the time of this release; however, they may be postponed or canceled in response to community feedback or if other high-priority updates arise.
・We expect to increase the number of skills from the current 300 to approximately 500.
・Conversely, we plan to allow players to remove skills that receive poor reviews or are deemed completely unnecessary from the random acquisition pool at any time, making them available for acquisition. (We plan to implement a feature where players can exchange in-game currency to replace unwanted skills at a low cost.)
・We plan to make adjustments and improvements based on community feedback and reports regarding skill interactions.
・We plan to expand the repertoire of random features generated for each floor and the layout of dungeons.
・While there are currently 5 stages, we plan to implement extra stages.
・We plan to make frequent improvements based on feedback regarding enemy bullet patterns, enemy strength, and other aspects.
・We have already adjusted the overall difficulty of the game to some extent, but we plan to make further improvements based on feedback.
・We plan to further enhance sound effects, visual effects, and other elements.
・We plan to implement a roguelike mode or roguelike-style dungeons that offer more randomness and a greater sense of chance.
・If there is sufficient demand, we will consider adding controller support.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“・You can play through the main mode from start to finish.
・A total of 101 active skills and 144 passive skills have been fully implemented.
・Since we have not been able to test all possible interactions between skills, certain skill combinations may result in unexpected behavior or power levels.
・There are fewer decorative elements (such as sound and visual effects) compared to the official version.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Although it has not been decided at this time, we will provide advance notice at least one week in advance if there are any price changes.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We welcome your opinions and bug reports on the store page’s message board and other forums.
We will always post patch notes with each update. We also accept feedback through the feature that allows users to post comments on the patch notes.
We may also conduct surveys on other social media platforms or within the game.
We intend to respond to feedback received through these channels as much as possible, whether we decide to implement the suggestion or not. We plan to allow the community to see, to some extent, what suggestions were adopted and which were not. This may take the form of an announcement to the entire community rather than direct replies. However, we do not promise to address every single piece of feedback.”

Anomalogenos is
a fishing bullet-hell game where you turn a handle to shoot and reel in fish,
and it’s also a game where you can freely combine nearly 300 different skills to unleash their full power in battle!
Dive into dungeons to earn rewards, return to base, upgrade your gear, and challenge even deeper levels!

・General Game Flow

1: Dive into the undersea caves and begin your adventure
You can dive into the undersea caves from anywhere you can see the starry sky above the water’s surface.
2: Find a fish and start a battle
You can start a battle by throwing a fishing hook at a fish swimming on the map or by bumping your ship into a fish.
3: Win battles to earn rewards
When you win a battle, you’ll receive a treasure chest containing a random reward of either currency or passive/active skills. You can open the chest upon returning to base and use the rewards to upgrade your equipment.
4: Upgrade your equipment
On the equipment screen, you can use the rewards you’ve earned to change your passive and active skills.
Passive skills are skills that are always active or trigger automatically,
while active skills are powerful skills that you can activate at any time.
5: Once you’ve grown strong enough, venture deeper to face bosses
You can explore anywhere under the starry sky within the dungeon to advance to the next level.
The deeper you go, the better the rewards, and defeating a boss unlocks access to even deeper dungeons.

・Basic Controls
You can move using the WASD keys.
Press the E key to perform actions such as coming ashore or entering the SHOP.
Press the SPACE key to zoom in or out on the exploration screen.

・How to Play During Battle
1: Dodging Projectiles
Movement using WASD remains the same as in basic controls.
Avoid the projectiles fired by the fish.

2: Firing Projectiles
During battle, a handle for spinning the reel will appear.
Move the mouse cursor around the boat to rotate the handle.
Turning the handle fires a projectile. Hit the fish to reduce its HP.

3: What Happens When You Take Damage?
When you take damage, the maximum value of the circular gauge around your ship decreases.
This gauge rises the farther your ship is from the fish and decreases the closer you get.
While this gauge is at its maximum, your HP will gradually decrease.
If your HP reaches 0, you lose the battle.

4: Using Active Skills
You can activate active skills by pressing the number keys 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Using active skills consumes mana, and each skill has a cooldown period.

・About Skills
Passive Skills: (Approx. 150 types)
These are skills that are constantly active during battle.
You can activate them by equipping them in the passive skill slots on your fishing rod.
Since the number of slots varies by fishing rod, better fishing rods allow you to equip more passive skills.

Active Skills: (Approx. 100 types)
These are skills you can bring into battle—up to four at a time.
You can activate them at any time during battle.
Activating each skill consumes a set amount of mana.
After activation, there is a cooldown period before you can activate the skill again.
