About This Game

Horn of the Warlord

Horn of the Warlord is a turn-based strategy game about ruthless conquest, calculated risk, and outthinking your enemies. Take the role of a Warlord, expand your dominion region by region, and prove that victory belongs not to the strongest army, but to the smartest commander.

Every decision matters. Every war has consequences.

About This Game

In a fractured world inspired by early medieval kingdoms and Viking-age warfare, rival Warlords rise to claim dominance. There are no chosen heroes, no scripted victories - only ambition, strategy, and the will to conquer.

Horn of the Warlord focuses on strategic mastery, offering fast-paced yet deep campaigns where preparation and timing decide the outcome of wars.

Conquer a Dynamic World

The game includes a fixed set of maps that were procedurally generated during development. While map layouts are fixed, every campaign reshuffles the strategic situation through randomised resources, population distribution, and starting positions.

Depending on map size, matches can range from short 30-minute skirmishes to large-scale wars that last several hours.

Each region matters. Controlling territory grants access to resources, income, and population needed to support your armies and expand your power.

  • Regions provide food, wood, stone, iron, and population

  • Different biomes affect expansion and movement

  • Strategic positioning is as important as territorial size

Losing a key region can be just as impactful as winning a battle.

Wage War Through Strategy, Not Reflexes

Battles are auto-resolved, but never automatic.

Victory depends on:

  • Army composition and unit roles

  • Timing and positioning

  • Fatigue and readiness of your forces

  • Choosing when and when not to fight

There is no single best unit and no winning spam strategy. Only well planned armies survive.

Siege Warfare and Castles

Castles play a central role in both defense and progression. Upgrading them improves regional security and unlocks stronger unit types.

Sieges require careful planning. You must decide how to spend limited siege points and which tactics to employ based on the situation.

  • Build and upgrade castles to unlock stronger units

  • Defend key regions with improved fortifications

  • Conduct sieges using ladders, battering rams, or trebuchets

  • Spend limited siege points to execute the right tactic for the situation

Every siege is a strategic puzzle, not a numbers check.

Challenge Warlords, Not Cheating AI

Face up to five rival Warlords, controlled by human players or AI.

The AI plays by the same rules you do:

  • No hidden bonuses

  • No artificial advantages

  • Decisions based on risk, reward, and long-term gain

If you lose, it’s because you were outplayed - not out-cheated.

Play Alone or Together

  • Single-player skirmishes and scenarios

  • Structured campaign introducing mechanics and systems

  • Local hot-seat multiplayer, where multiple players take turns on one machine

Perfect for competitive strategy nights and shared campaigns.

Designed for Strategy-Focused Players

Horn of the Warlord is intended for players who enjoy thinking several turns ahead, adapting to changing conditions, and solving strategic problems rather than relying on fast reactions.

If you enjoy planning, experimentation, and learning from defeat, this is the kind of game built for you.
