What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access for MoonRing to give players who are looking forward to the game a chance to play sooner and experience its core gameplay. We will also continually gather player feedback to help us adjust game balance, refine mechanics, fix bugs, and improve the overall experience. By involving players throughout development, we hope to create a game they truly enjoy.
We plan to follow a clear development roadmap and release version 1.0 once the game meets our quality standards.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect MoonRing to remain in Early Access for approximately 10–12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plan is for the Early Access version to include the first three major regions, accounting for approximately 70% of the game's planned content. For the full version, we plan to expand the game with a fourth and fifth region. We currently aim to release the full version within 12 months of the Early Access launch.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already features the game's main gameplay systems and core gameplay loop. Three regions are available to explore: the first region, “Landing Forest”; the second region, “Desert Rift”; and the third region, “Oblivion Tundra.” Players can already experience the core of what MoonRing has to offer.

During further development, we plan to add the fourth region, “Irradiated Wastes,” and the fifth region, “Zero-Gravity Outlands.” We also plan to introduce a range of new buildings and shortcut controls while continuing to improve the visuals. Based on player feedback, we will keep fixing bugs, adjusting game balance, and refining the controls. We will release updates regularly and share development progress through Steam announcements.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The Early Access version will be available at a special price for early supporters. As we continue to expand and polish the game, we plan to increase the price slightly for the 1.0 release. All players who purchase the game during Early Access will receive all content included in the full release at no additional cost.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to maintain ongoing communication with our community across multiple channels, giving player feedback a meaningful role in development:

1. Feedback channels: We will set up dedicated feedback threads in the Steam Community discussions, our official Discord server, and our QQ groups, where players can submit bug reports, gameplay suggestions, and ideas for new content. We will regularly review popular suggestions and respond in our development logs, explaining whether we plan to implement them and why.

2. Community polls and surveys: We plan to run polls and surveys on upcoming content and balance changes, prioritizing the additions players most want to see. For major changes to game mechanics, we plan to provide a test branch so players can try them early and share their feedback.

3. Regular development logs: We plan to publish development logs on a regular schedule, sharing concept art, prototypes of new features, and development timelines. We will also discuss current development challenges and explain the reasoning behind our decisions.

4. Collaborative bug fixing and improvements: We encourage players to submit steps to reproduce bugs. Players who help us identify significant bugs will be acknowledged in our update notes. If we implement a particularly helpful or creative suggestion, we will also thank its contributor in the game's credits.

5. Developer livestreams and Q&A sessions: From time to time, we plan to host developer livestreams to showcase the latest development build, talk directly with players, and hear their feedback in real time.”

About This Game

MoonRing is a steampunk factory-building and city management game set on a vast ring-shaped world.

Start with an oil-lit metal shack and grow an industrial civilization beneath the curve of the ring. Your factories supply the cities. Your growing population provides the workforce to expand your industry. Build both into a vast, interconnected network with one extraordinary goal: construct colossal steam engines and carry the entire ring away from a dying star.

From your first chunk of ore to the colossal gears of an escape engine, build automated production chains that keep materials moving through every stage of industry.

Connect mines, processing facilities, and assembly lines with conveyor belts. Balance production, clear bottlenecks, and bring new resources into the network as your factories spread across the ring. Watch a handful of machines become an industrial landscape that curves into the sky.

Plan the roads, build urban infrastructure, and deliver resources to the Loff Center. Residential districts will grow along your roads, expanding from makeshift settlements into prefab neighborhoods and grand Victorian brick buildings.

Every growing city strengthens your industry. More residents mean a larger industrial workforce, supporting more factories—and more factories produce the supplies to sustain larger cities. Decide how to divide resources between the needs of your residents and your next industrial expansion.

Then watch the windows light up, one street at a time.

An expanding factory needs more than longer conveyor belts.

Run steam trains between distant sectors to move goods in bulk. Use airships to cross difficult terrain and deliver supplies directly over sprawling industrial districts. Build transport elevators to move goods between opposite sides of the ring, cutting out long journeys around it.

Combine transport systems to connect far-flung resource deposits, factories, and cities into one working supply network.

Expand through grasslands, deserts, frozen wastes, and irradiated zones, each offering different resources for your growing industry.

Beyond your production lines lie the dormant ruins of an alien civilization. Explore them to recover rare materials, unlock Pioneer technologies, and uncover the origins of the MoonRing. Activate ruin nodes to teleport steam-powered machines between sites and open new routes across the ring.

Every mine, factory, and delivery route leads toward your greatest engineering project.

Manufacture the components for colossal steam escape engines along the rim. Turn an industry that once sustained a few homes into one capable of moving an entire world—and carry humanity beyond the reach of an exploding star.

You are a machine with no heartbeat. Behind you are the lights of a civilization with a future to build.

MoonRing is currently in development at the demo stage. Planned additions include:

  • More biomes, resources, alien ruins, and steam technologies.

  • Expanded homeworld expeditions and interstellar exploration.

  • Building blueprints to help you grow your industrial network.

  • More residential upgrades and city buildings, plus waste management and city heatmaps.

Wishlist MoonRing to follow development and watch this ring-shaped world grow from its first flickering light into humanity’s last ark.
