Why Early Access?

“Fade Out isn't finished yet: we plan to add many visual effects, animations, and entire chapters after release. We chose Early Access because we want to build the experience together with the community. Player feedback will help us refine the gameplay, the atmosphere, and the pacing of the climb, and shape new circles of Hell — each with its own rules and horrors — leading to one or more endings.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the Early Access period to last around 24 months — the time we need to build the rest of the Hell we've imagined. This may vary depending on the content we add and on our ongoing dialogue with the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add new circles of Hell beyond the first, new abilities for the little souls facing this infernal climb, new animations, further story threads, and brand-new places to explore. Compared to the Early Access version, we aim to deliver a longer, more polished, and more content-rich experience.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In Early Access, Fade Out offers the complete first chapter: an entire circle of Hell with 5 playable levels. It can be played by 1 to 4 players in co-op, with the ability to choose your own character. The core mechanics are already in place and fully functional; some visual effects, animations, and narrative content are still in progress and will be improved and expanded throughout Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will remain stable throughout Early Access. We plan to increase it only slightly at full release, once the game has reached its final scope — significantly more playtime, additional content and new features. Players who purchase during Early Access will secure the game at its lowest price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want to listen to the souls taking on this climb. We'll gather player feedback through the Steam discussions and our community channels, paying close attention to what works, what frightens players the most, and what they'd like to see in the circles to come. Bug reports and gameplay suggestions will help us refine the experience, and we'll keep players updated on our development progress.”

The developers describe the content like this:

The game contains mature content, mainly related to violence, horror atmosphere, and disturbing themes.

Non-sexual nudity: the playable characters (damned souls) are nude, but without genitals. This nudity is used purely as a symbolic and narrative element (to represent the loss of humanity and identity), with no sexual acts or erotic content.

Violence and horror: the game includes violent scenes, demonic creatures, blood, and depictions of physical/psychological suffering in a hellish setting.

Sensitive themes: the story features elements related to death, damnation, torture, despair, and the degradation of the human condition.

There are no scenes depicting sexual acts, sexual violence, or non-consensual sex.

ESCAPE FROM HELL

Fade Out is a cooperative escape-horror experience where teamwork and your energies are your only weapon. You won't survive alone: only by staying together can you climb.

HELL

Zones suspended in time, sudden teleport portals, shifting walls, thick fog, and impossible spaces will force you to question what's real. In Fade Out, the environment itself can become the enemy.

Every dark corridor hides a threat.

A single misstep can separate the group forever.

POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE

Every soul holds two opposing energies: one positive, one negative. They are your only defense. The creatures of Hell fear only one of the two — strike with the wrong one and you won't stop them. Learn to read each enemy, immobilize it with the right energy, and bend the environment to your path.

REVIVAL

Death is not the end. When your soul is devoured, your companions can transfer part of their energy to recharge you and bring you back. But beware: doing so leaves you vulnerable to the creatures lurking in the dark.

PROGRESSION AND SAVING

Fade Out weaves its progression and save system into the story itself. As you advance, you'll find filaments of energy left behind by the entity. They act as checkpoints, if you fall, the entity will bring you back to life from one of them, without making you lose the progress you've made.
