What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Utopia: Birth of the Heroes will be an episodic release.
While the overarching story, world, and cast are already fully established, we are utilizing Steam Early Access to gather meaningful player feedback. Insights from Early Access will help us refine narrative pacing, clarity, English & Spanish localization, UI presentation, and overall experience as development continues toward the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This game will remain in Early Access for less than one year.

Development has been moving smoothly, and we’ve already made significant progress on chapters beyond what’s included in the Early Access build.
Our plan is to continue heads-down development throughout Early Access and to incorporate player feedback where it makes sense. If any major changes come from that feedback, they may require additional time to implement, but we’ll communicate those adjustments as they arise.

We’ll be releasing the remaining Chapters (18–32) as they’re completed. These will roll out through Steam updates, either individually or in small groups. Once the final chapter(s) are ready, the game will move into a release‑ready V1.0 state and exit Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access contains the first half of the game (chapters 0-17 with roughly 8-10 hours of gameplay).
The full version of the game will contain all 32 chapters of the story, which is planned to feature an average of 15-20 hours of gameplay in total.

The features that we plan to implement in the future for the full release include:
- An additional character sprite,
- A total of 24 pieces of soundtrack instead of 16 currently available in the Early Access build,
- And the full 32 chapters of the game instead of 17.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“This is a functional, polished build containing the first half of the game. The UI, story, characters, and overall presentation are very close to how we intend them to appear in the final version, pending any adjustments based on player feedback or new discoveries during development.

The Early Access launch will include 17 completed chapters rather than the full 32 planned for V1.0. These 17 chapters offer roughly 8–10 hours of narrative‑driven gameplay.

Features from the "About this game" section are already implemented in this Early Access Build, players will be able to play several chapters through the perspective of the three protagonists, with multiple endings already available, 23 unique character sprites, with multiple sets of expressions each, and the soundtrack already features 16 unique pieces composed by Peter Reid Jones from Scarlet Moon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As we add additional content to the game, we plan to raise the final price slightly before the full release. If we wind up doing so, we will give players at least one month's notice so that they can still have a chance to purchase Utopia: Birth of the Heroes at its current Early Access price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to keep communication active throughout Early Access.
Minor and Major build updates will be shared through Steam News posts, pinned discussion threads, and regular activity on our social channels (X, BlueSky, and Instagram). We’re also using press and media distribution services to make sure major updates reach games media and interested outlets.

In addition, we plan to open a community Discord server to support deeper communication, fan engagement, and long‑term player retention. This will give players a direct space to share feedback, ask questions, and follow development more closely.”

About This Game

How much of yourself would you be willing to lose to save someone you love?

Utopia: Birth of the Heroes is a character‑driven fantasy visual novel about conviction, sacrifice, and the price of protecting those who matter most.

The story follows three distinct protagonists, each driven by a different vision of a perfect society. They’ll navigate hardship, political tension, and morally charged decisions. Every perspective reveals a different truth, and every “hero” believes that what they are doing is right and just.

FREDERICK

After a heartbreaking choice shatters his world, Frederick is left questioning everything... including himself. In his darkest moment, someone reminds him not of what he lost… but of what he saved.

True strength is not born from might. It is born from conviction — from choosing to protect, even when it hurts, giving birth to a true hero.

DIOMEDES

Diomedes does not seek to be a hero. He seeks to end suffering — no matter the cost. If saving those he loves demands cruelty, he will not hesitate to bear that burden... even if history brands him a villain.

A protector to some. A monster to others.

But whatever the case, Diomedes understands one truth better than anyone: the road to utopia is carved by those brave enough to be condemned for walking it.

ESKIL

As kingdoms burn, Eskil watches with quiet clarity. He believes there must be another way — one that doesn’t demand so much bloodshed.

In a war fueled by hardheaded conviction, his steady resolve may be the one force capable of changing everything.

Through multiple perspectives and narrative paths, Utopia challenges players to weigh the cost of their ideals and consider the consequences of each decision. Every choice shapes not only the characters’ relationships and personal journeys but also the fate of the world they hope to change. The result is a deeply immersive experience where the pursuit of utopia reveals just how fragile that dream can be.
