What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because we want to involve the community in shaping the game while continuing development. Although the core gameplay experience is already complete and fully playable, we still have many ideas and planned features that we believe will significantly improve the game. Rather than delaying the release any longer, we want players to start enjoying the game now while we expand it with new content and improvements based on community feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately six months. This timeline may change depending on community feedback and the progress of development, but our goal is to deliver regular updates throughout the Early Access period.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include a significantly larger variety of content. We plan to add new puzzle modules, additional anomaly types, more distortion mechanics, and a Free Mode that allows players to create and share their own custom levels. Our goal is to increase replayability and provide players with many more ways to experience the game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already offers the complete core gameplay loop and is fully playable. It currently includes 9 puzzle modules, 4 distortion types, and 3 different anomaly types, all available both through the in-game experience and the companion website. During Early Access, we plan to expand the game with regular monthly updates introducing new anomalies, modules, and distortions to further deepen the gameplay experience.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to keep the price relatively close to the Early Access price. As additional content and features are added throughout development, we may increase the price by approximately 25% when the game leaves Early Access to reflect the expanded scope of the full release.

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback will play an important role throughout development. We encourage players to share their feedback, suggestions, and ideas through the Steam Discussions forums and our official Discord server, where we can directly communicate with the community and discuss the game's development.

We plan to use player feedback to improve game balance, implement quality-of-life features, and make gameplay adjustments where necessary. We also want to involve the community in deciding future content, particularly new anomaly ideas, through polls, voting, and by considering the concepts that players are most excited about.

About This Game

Keep It Contained is a cooperative, communication-driven experience set inside a sealed, high-risk research facility. One player takes the role of a scientist operating within the facility, while the others form an external control team. Your objective is to re-contain dangerous organisms before time runs out.

The player inside the facility interacts directly with panels, devices, and organism-related modules. The external team, on the other hand, has access only to the Protocol Book. Each side holds different information, and the only way to bridge that gap is through constant communication:

  • The player inside cannot see the protocols.

  • The external team cannot see the in-game situation, the modules, or the organism.

This separation lies at the core of the game’s tension. Progress depends on accurately describing information, communicating it clearly, and executing steps in the correct order. A single misdescribed symbol, a skipped step, or a command given under pressure can allow the organism to break containment.

Game sessions are short but intense. System failures, unexpected events, and organism-specific behaviors constantly test the players’ focus. Success requires clear communication, quick thinking, and strong team coordination. Silence is dangerous — but talking too much can be just as risky.

Features

  • Dynamic scenarios – Procedurally generated module layouts and randomized organism traits ensure that no two sessions are the same.

  • Co-op multiplayer – Designed for two or more players; playable locally or remotely using voice chat services like Discord.

  • Single copy required – Only one player needs to own the game. Others can join using the free Protocol Book.

  • Progressive difficulty – As you advance, more complex modules, new organisms, and additional pressure elements are introduced.

  • Scenario and level creation – Use the in-game editor to design your own missions, module combinations, and difficulty settings.

  • Free Protocol Book – Available on the official website, printable, and accessible from any internet-enabled device.

Here, reflexes won’t save you — communication will.
