What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This game is still actively being built, and Early Access lets me shape it alongside the community. I would love player feedback to stress test balance, progression, pacing. I want players to be part of that process and directly influence how the game evolves through future patches.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The plan is for Early Access to last around 6 months. This may change depending on feedback and how development progresses, but the goal is to take the time needed to properly polish systems, expand content, and make sure the full release feels complete rather than rushed.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to develop the game further with feedback from the community. We are hoping to develop it into a Multiplayer mode with real time servers, so that you aren't just refining your skills against the bots, and it will see human strategies develop. We also plan to consistently balance the game as time goes on and refine the UI with community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Riftborne is playable as a full single player game in Early Access. You can create full simulated worlds in a sci-fi galaxy, manage and trade resources, raid enemies, raid enemy bases, build up a ship fleet to compete against strategic mining locations, fight against galactic wide campaign battles, a full Bot-controlled enemy list. The game supports long term strategic decision-making, emergent outcomes, and replayable simulations.

Current Features of the game include: Full interactive HUD, complex battle simulator, list of over 200+ in game ships, procedurally generated star map world, 120 players and 6 factions. Rich in game contract system for posting jobs or working for large players, siumulated resource market, mining outposts, special resource bonuses across different star systems to discover. See the About Section for a full list of features.

At this stage, the focus is on core systems. Balance is still being tuned, and systems may evolve as feedback comes in. ”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not plan to increase the price of the game after release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Bugs, suggestions, discussions, gameplay questions, patch notes can all be accessed via discord”

About This Game

Riftborne is a slow, long-form sci-fi strategy game built around patience, planning, and scale.

The enemies adapt to your play style over time, and even across new game saves.

You begin with a single base. That grows into a network of colonies, fleets, supply lines, defenses, contracts, and political influence. Early progress is small and deliberate. Later, the game opens into logistics, faction conflict, economic pressure, territorial control, and rival powers that have had time to grow into serious threats.

This is not a fast campaign game. It is meant to be lived in for a while. A run can unfold over weeks or months as your empire develops and the galaxy around it changes shape. This is the single player foundation for what is planned to become a much larger multiplayer world with real time strategy mechanics and long term planning.

Riftborne is aimed at players who enjoy learning a dense system, building momentum slowly, and seeing small decisions matter much later.

You might be at home here if you like:

  • long strategy campaigns

  • economy, logistics, and production chains

  • terminal-style, information-dense interfaces

  • procedural maps where geography matters

  • rival AI factions that grow and recover over time

  • games that reward consistency more than speed

If you want constant action, rapid unlocks, or a campaign built to be finished in a weekend, this probably will not be your kind of game.

Key Features

  • Slow-burn empire building across long campaigns

  • Deep logistics, economy, production, and storage management

  • Terminal-style HUD built for dense strategic information

  • Procedural galaxy generation with meaningful geography

  • Rival AI empires that raid, trade, recover, and adapt over time

  • Faction politics, diplomacy, and military pressure at galactic scale

  • Contracts, markets, and economic systems that support different playstyles

  • Campaign history, rankings, medals, and long-run progression tracking
