What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“ALIGNMENT is a hardcore infrastructure design game built on real engineering principles. However, real-world infrastructure is never universal. Road standards, traffic behavior, terrain constraints, and even atmospheric conditions differ fundamentally across regions.

Early Access is where this gap gets closed. We provide the core engineering systems. Players bring local knowledge, design habits, and regional logic. During EA, player input can directly influence how regional standards, traffic rules, and environmental behaviors are modeled, tuned, and locked into the simulation.

If you care about how roads actually work where you live, EA is your chance to shape how that reality is represented in the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 6 to 12 months. The full release will depend on the maturity of the systems rather than a fixed date. We will only conclude Early Access once physics behavior, procedural generation, multiplayer stability, and the regional adaptation of design standards all meet the consistency levels required for an engineering-grade simulation.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full release will complete the "Global Infrastructure" technical vision, moving beyond the Early Access phase:
High-Precision Data: Support for importing higher-resolution global terrain and satellite imagery.
Advanced Structures: Complex bridges (suspension, cable-stayed) and shield tunnels with complete engineering parameter constraints.
Enhanced Collaborative Engineering: Multiplayer featuring specialized roles, project version control, and online scoring support.
Intelligent Traffic: ECS Agent-based traffic flow simulation, reproducing high-volume tidal flows and realistic congestion scenarios.
Enhanced Physics Systems: Refined physics simulation including water flow, disasters, vehicle handling and driving feedback—elevating immersion for both engineering and driving experiences.
Mod Ecosystem: Support for a mod system, enabling the publication and sharing of custom assets and scenario saves.
Professional Challenges: Online engineering challenges featuring budget constraints and compliance audits, delivering an advanced multiplayer professional simulation experience.
Regional Standard Adaptation: Complete localization of road standards, traffic regulations, and design specifications for each region, ensuring engineering-grade consistency across the global simulation.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“ALIGNMENT: An Engineering Odyssey is not built from scratch; it evolves from our proprietary engineering design and simulation software, RoadMate. RoadMate has been widely used in real-world infrastructure projects, academic research, and the autonomous driving industry, and it continues to improve through iterative feedback.

The Early Access version inherits this professional DNA. Core procedural generation modules for routes, roadbeds, bridges, tunnels, and even culverts are already complete. Traffic simulation and first-person driving physics are also natively integrated into the architecture.

To better suit game players, we are redesigning interaction paradigms completely different from traditional engineering software, turning complex engineering workflows into intuitive and enjoyable gameplay. At the same time, we are building a more detailed terrain system to make the interaction between roads and environments more natural and immersive.

The main focus of the current Early Access build is to port these industry-proven engineering modules into the game environment and optimize the user experience, balancing professional engineering logic with gameplay.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. As the system evolves, with deeper simulation and expanded content, the full version will carry a higher price. The current Early Access price is a special reward for early adopters, who play a crucial role in validating and shaping the system.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We consider our community as a “Global Engineering Consultant Group.” Beyond standard bug reports, we urgently need your regional engineering expertise—whether it’s guardrail standards in Germany or mountain road marking practices in Japan. Development priorities will be guided by community input, adding region-specific assets and regulatory presets. You can engage directly with our development team via the Steam Community or Discord. Your feedback will have a direct impact on the accuracy and global adaptability of ALIGNMENT.”

About This Game

ALIGNMENT

An Engineering Odyssey

ALIGNMENT is a hardcore infrastructure simulation that bridges the gap between civil engineering software and driving simulation.

You are not dropping prefabs on a blank canvas. You are battling topography. Using global GIS data, you will tackle 1:1 recreations of real-world locations—from the complex spaghetti junctions of Tokyo to the perilous mountain passes of Norway.

Core Disciplines

  •  Real-World Context (GIS Integration) Import real terrain data. Analyze contour lines, hydrology, and existing infrastructure. Whether you are retrofitting a congested interchange or carving a new legendary route through the Alps, the ground truth is your starting point.

  •  Engineering-Grade Design Draw distinct horizontal and vertical alignments. Manage superelevation (banking), transition curves, and sight distances. The game engine enforces the laws of physics and civil engineering standards. If your geometry is flawed, the road is dangerous.

  •  Driving Verification Theoretical data is not enough. Get behind the wheel and drive your design. Feel the g-force in the corners, check the visibility on crests, and experience the consequences of a poor grade. If you can't drive it safely, you haven't finished designing it.

  •  Collaborative Infrastructure Civil engineering is a team sport. Join a server and collaborate on massive scale projects. Divide the workload: one engineer handles the main line geometry, another optimizes the ramps, while a third runs traffic stress tests.

This Is Not A City Builder.

  • No zoning residential areas.

  • No managing happiness levels.

  • No placing decorative flower beds.

This is about moving mass and traffic safely, efficiently, and precisely.

The Cycle of Mastery

  • Survey: Analyze the 1:1 terrain and constraints.

  • Align: Plot the geometry using clothoids and gradients.

  • Construct: Generate the procedural mesh based on your parameters.

  • Verify: Drive the road. Test the physics.

  • Iterate: Fix the problem.
