What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We firmly believe that the best games are created together with players. The Early Access model allows us to continuously expand content, refine gameplay, and improve game quality based on real feedback from the player community. As an indie game developed by a single developer, Kepler 186F will collaborate with players to enhance game balance, incorporate new ideas, and transform this alien survival adventure integrating exploration, crafting, survival, building, combat, and farming into the most enjoyable version.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We plan for the Early Access phase to last at least 6-12 months. The exact duration will depend on development progress and player feedback. As an indie developer, we will pour all our effort into ensuring Kepler 186F reaches its full potential, while frequently iterating content based on community input.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core mechanics and basic structure are already in place. The main purpose of Early Access is to help us further polish and expand the game. Based on player feedback, we plan to:

• Expand game systems (exploration, crafting, survival, building, combat, and farming systems)

• Introduce new content (new scenes, weapons, items, quest lines, creature types, and even new modules)

• Draw insights from the player community to continuously optimize the UI, core mechanics, and balance. During updates, there may be a risk of data wipes (we will do our best to avoid this and notify the community in advance).”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version has created a complete playable alien survival experience, where players can explore unknown planets, craft tools, build bases, farm for survival, combat alien threats, and progress through quests.

Main features of the Early Access version

• Dynamic Resource Management: Scarce resources in an alien environment. Choose whether to prioritize crafting weapons to fight threats or stockpile materials to build defensive bases?

• Immersive World Building: Explore the vast surface of Kepler 186F planet, including mysterious alien ruins, rugged terrain, and habitable areas suitable for farming.

• Crafting, Building, and Farming: Dismantle environmental objects, recycle resources, craft weapons, building modules, and farming tools in a deep crafting system to establish your alien home.

• Quests and Survival: Complete key quests, maintain base operations, fight native creatures, and gradually uncover planetary secrets. Every decision affects survival and prosperity.

We are also continuously testing various new features to shape the game's future direction. We can't wait to see how players interact with this alien world and adjust the development roadmap accordingly.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“As we add new content and features, the game price may increase after Early Access ends.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We believe that Kepler 186F is a world created together with players, not just a game made by an indie developer for players. As a one-person development team, we particularly rely on community power. We actively interact with players on Discord and Steam forums, inviting everyone to share ideas, report bugs, suggest scenes/UI/weapons/items/quests, and even participate in testing. We will frequently modify content based on feedback; every opinion is crucial. Let's work together to create an amazing alien survival world!”

About This Game

You are a Type-37 Crisis Response Robot, a military-grade product designed to handle planetary emergencies. Your mission is to investigate the lost contact with the colony on Kepler 186F. In this extreme alien environment, explore using limited resources in a deep crafting system to forge paths to the truth and build tools for survival.

The Nantianmen Colonization Project is a fully automated interstellar real estate venture by the corporate titan Axiox Heavy Industries, humanity's pinnacle achievement. Suddenly, the company received a distress signal sent 3 months prior—delayed by a full 3 months due to the vast interstellar distance. Axiox immediately activated crisis response protocols and urgently dispatched a crisis response robot. Activated 3 months later, you arrive 6 full months after the incident occurred, with Axiox still completely in the dark about what happened on Kepler 186F. In Kepler 186F, survival is just the beginning—you must investigate. Your choices shape the story, unfolding a thrilling adventure from the planet's dark side to its space station.

Kepler 186F deeply reinterprets the survival crafting genre, where every decision and action has consequences. Immerse yourself in this meticulously crafted world, where the truth behind the lost contact is in your hands. Your mission is clear: uncover the core cause of the blackout, restart critical facilities, and transmit a complete investigation report back to Axiox Heavy Industries.

Investigate the Dark Side

Begin your investigation on the dark side of Kepler 186F, managing power and energy systems to prevent overload from extreme cold. Scour clues related to the lost contact, explore automated colony facilities, craft batteries, tools, and basic structures from recycled resources. Unlock advanced scanning modules to piece together the initial puzzle of the blackout, gradually uncovering traces of alien electronic lifeforms in the frigid darkness.

Combat the Infection

Protect yourself and facilities from rogue machines and environmental threats. From automated worker bots infected by planetary electronic lifeforms to evolved synthetic mechanical lifeforms, build automated defense systems and deploy countermeasures during superheated bright-side storms and system failures. Safeguard your energy core to stand firm against hordes of infected. Strategic defense choices determine the success of your investigation.

Reclaim the Space Station

Recover and reactivate the planetary space station's critical infrastructure to transmit the complete investigation report and cause of the blackout back to Axiox Heavy Industries. Search for access codes, refine energy fuel, rebuild navigation AI, and ensure mission success. Progress the story from the bright side to the space station (lurking with horror elements), each advance carrying calculated risks—but for uncovering the truth behind the lost contact, it's worth it. Witness the signal you personally restart launch into orbit, allowing Axiox to finally understand what happened on Kepler 186F.
