About This Game

TRAIN YOUR KEYBOARD SKILLS LIKE A VIRTUOSO

Typing is a motor skill—and the keyboard can be mastered like a musical instrument.

RhythmicTypeX is a rhythm-driven typing and coding e-sport that transforms keyboard practice into a fast, precise and competitive training experience. Instead of repeating conventional typing exercises, you develop control through carefully designed rhythmic patterns inspired by the practice methods of professional musicians.

Press the correct keys in time, maintain the rhythm and gradually raise the tempo as your skills improve. Every session challenges your timing, accuracy, speed and coordination, helping you move beyond comfortable limits while staying in performing flow.

MASTER RHYTHM, TEMPO AND CONTROL

Musicians build virtuosity by practicing difficult movements in structured rhythms before increasing their speed. RhythmicTypeX brings that approach to typing and coding.

Learn each pattern at a manageable pace, develop reliable movement sequences and progressively increase the tempo. As the challenges become faster and more complex, you must remain accurate, relaxed and rhythmically precise.

Success is not only about pressing keys quickly. It is about building the control needed to perform consistently at high speed.

TURN PRACTICE INTO AN E-SPORT

Every input contributes to your performance. Chase higher scores, improve your personal results and test how far you can push your keyboard dexterity.

RhythmicTypeX combines the focus of musical practice with the intensity of a score-based e-sport. Whether you are developing ten-finger typing, working with coding-oriented key combinations or pursuing extreme speed, every run gives you another opportunity to improve.

NON-VIRTUAL LIFE BENEFITS OF PLAYING THIS GAME

You can learn practice this rhythmic training method and apply it to your musical instrument practice, your sport, your performing art, basically anything that is a motor skill where timing, coordination, and speed matters. These rhythmic patterns were selected to let you train effectively and achieve the best performance in the least time possible. The Music Instruments Practice Mode [pressing the keypad minus key] allows you to practice the rhythms with your musical instrument until you have integrated them into your practice, or simply get your ear used to the rhythms.

THE GOAL IS SIMPLE

Master the rhythm. Raise the tempo. Push your limits. Become a keyboard virtuoso.

ADAPTIVE MECHANICS BASED ON MUSICAL WISDOM

The adaptive game mechanic sets the tempo according to your performance to keep you in the best performing flow as possible, not over challenging you and not boring you. It allows you to push your limits, increasing progressively and decreasing with mistakes. The game supports up to approx. 900 BPM (approx. 15 characters per second). If you ever reached that speed in the game, you are a machine 👍. You can then train with other character sequences. So basically, you can improve to an extreme level if you want.

The tempo progresses automatically, but you can also manage the tempo yourself in real-time according to your experience:

THE DIFFERENT BEATS

Accentuated beat: Press with more intensity than the subtle beat.

Zoom beat: Press with the same intensity (or slightly more) as the accentuated beat and 'zoom in' your attention in the tip of the finger that you are pressing. This helps you to focus and relax.

Subtle beat: Press subtly.

Although your keyboard does not capture if you press harder on the accentuated beats, you should always respect this code to get the best out of this method.

FINGERS POSITIONING MADE INTUITIVE

To learn easily which characters belong to which finger,  the characters  come in the appropriate lanes:

Once you know which character belongs to which fingers, you can look directly in the grid instead of the track. At higher speeds, your eyes will get dizzy if you look at the track all the time and it helps you learning/training blind typing, without looking at the keyboard.

OPTIONS

All US QWERTY related keyboards layouts are supported and all the QWERTZ (German keyboard) [full functionality]. 91 variations of these 2 layouts also work for this game with some special characters not appearing in the right lanes, but you can still play and enjoy most of this game and the esports modes with those variations [optionally, you can switch your keyboard layout in Windows to the US layout and have full functionality].

Search online for the list of supported keyboards for this game.

You can define which characters you want to work with:

SETTINGS - ROUNDS

- Game timer (10 seconds to 60 minutes per round) - All esports rounds are 20 minutes.

- Enable/disable the Focus Mode (tab key) Good for training more slowly when activated, but at faster pace, you can hit it by accent and experience big trouble, throwing your focus out, so you can disactivate it.

- Enable/disable the cougar animation (fun to watch for other and keep you in a dancing flow if you want, but if it bother you and you like it more sober, you can disactivate it.

- Activate/disactivate the Rhythm patterns Easy Mode. (activate it if you are learning the game and have limited rhythmic skills. Once comfortable with them, you can disactivate it and play with all 53 patterns.

SETTINGS - AUDIO

You can adjust the game's synchronization to your AUDIO DELAY (if you play with or without earphones, with Bluetooth, etc.) IMPORTANT: The maximum audio delay supported is 500 milliseconds, 0.5 seconds. You can use choose the options:

- default delay (200 ms)

- audio delay value (if you already calculated a delay, for example with Bluetooth, you can save it there)

- in-game slider: you can fine tune the delay in the game with the slider down left if this is activated.

- synchronize your audio: a beat will be played and you have to hit the space bar exactly on the beat [try to hide the beat sound with your taps for more precision]. Your hardware delay will be automatically calculated.

ESPORTS COMPETITION MODES

Different modes listed here are the official competition disciplines as of today. At the end of each 20 minutes round, if you accept sharing your anonymous performance data (pseudonym, country (also anonymous if you want), your score and round performance data, you can publish publish your score on the official leaderboard (as long as I can afford  and support the game's website), otherwise, your scores remain on your PC. You must be at least 16 years old to publish your scores - because of EU regulations, for youth protection.

MUSIC INSTRUMENTS TRAINING MODE

In this mode, you can listen to the beats of a whole round and learn them on your musical instrument. To activate, you must be in play mode and press the minus key on the keypad.  In this mode, there is no score, just you integrating the beats to your music instruments or other motor skills if you want. Juggling, articulation in a new language, etc.

END RESULTS

At the end of each round, you can see your score with relevant metrics and if you are 16 years old and above, you may consent to send you performance data and score to the leaderboard (as long as I can afford the trademark website). Otherwise, you can see your scores locally by clicking on the "Your Score" button.

If you are not in E-Sports mode, you see the same screen at the end with a different message, asking if you want to share your data with this game's website to help with my research on rhythmic training to improve the game mechanic. You also must consent and be above 16 years old.

All your data is anonymous except your pseudonym (you can also use always different ones without meaning if you want) and you have they option to add a country or keep it secret.

PLANNED RECOVERY TIME

What does an athlete do after an intense training? That's right: Take a break and recover. This game can push your limits and is a concentration workout of its own. Recovering is really important before you do anything else. (5 minutes with eyes closed, stretching your fingers will help you). If you experience any pain in the fingers, wrists or eyes, please stop for a while before really injuring yourself and if you have doubts, ask your doctor. I take no responsibility for injuries, I wish the best for you, I recommend 20 to 40 minutes per day (2 rounds maximum). I don't make money if you play more, I just get more happiness if you are happy using this game, have a healthy gaming life style and you enjoy your new skills typing in college, at university, in your office, writing useful code, competing in this esport or type a love letter with more fluidity in your fingers and more attention free for your heart and mind.
