Game Background

Set in the rich tapestry of ancient Egypt, the game draws from the civilization’s iconic afterlife mythology. Upon death, souls are guided by Anubis from the mortal world into Duat. After braving the underworld’s countless trials and crossing its 12 gateways, they face judgment in the Hall of Ma’at. There, Ma’at weighs the soul’s heart against her feather of truth: if the heart is lighter than the feather, the soul is deemed pure and worthy of entering Aaru—the idyllic Field of Reeds where gods dwell. But if the heart is heavy with sin, it is devoured by Ammit, and the soul fades into the mists of Duat forever.

To help the deceased navigate Duat and pass judgment, ancient Egyptians buried the Book of the Dead alongside their loved ones. This sacred text contained rituals, tales of the soul’s merits in life, and guides to overcoming the underworld’s perils—ensuring the soul’s safe passage to eternal rest.
