Both story versions share the same main plot, but subtle differences in the characters and small details unique to each story version transform how you experience them.

A fantasy visual novel set in a magic school where humans and mages mingle. Follow Emil, a young human who despises mages, and Henri, a self-proclaimed "bonehead" of a mage, as they learn how to connect in spite of various anxieties and differing backgrounds.

The female main cast version ("Lilac -side Witch-") and the male main cast version ("Lilac -side Wizard-") contain different illustrations and voices. There are also small details unique to each story version.

Story

Lilac Academy.

A joint magic school established by Lilac, the Legendary Magus, who wished for a world where humans and mages could come together, hand in hand, in peace and harmony.

One day, in a rural village in the east, an admission letter arrives at the home of a sick mother and her child, Emil.

Having been treated badly by a mage in the past, Emil hates mages. However, upon learning that graduating from the academy would net a generous monetary reward, Emil resolves to enroll. The reason? Family comes before any grudge.

After getting lost on the way to the academy, Emil meets Henri, who happens to be around the same age. The two hit it off, but that all falls apart once Emil realizes that Henri is actually a mage.

Disgusted at this revelation, Emil tries to leave, but Henri insists on showing the way to the academy and forcibly casts a spell.

However, the spell fails, and Emil is sent flying to an unfamiliar place. Thus begins Emil's turbulent academy life.

"Lilac" is a visual novel with characters illustrated by Oyari Ashito and a story written by Yuka Kono, who also wrote the original stage plays that the game is based on. It is developed by Frontwing, the same company that worked on visuals like the "Grisaia" series and GINKA.

"Lilac" features:

• Meticulous character designs from Oyari Ashito.

• A tale of friendship between people of different backgrounds, anxieties, and aspirations for the future. Will their differences lead to conflict, or to friendship?

• Two versions of the same story, either by an all-female cast ("side Witch") or an all-male cast ("side Wizard"), for you to choose from! The artwork, voice actors, and even minor details in the story differ between each version!
