What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“VAULT RATS is a co-op extraction game with a solid core loop, but the vision is bigger than one developer can fully realize alone. Early Access lets the community help shape the game's growth - from new enemies and tools to quality-of-life features I might not think of. Co-op games especially benefit from real player feedback on balance, pacing, and multiplayer stability. The foundation is here. I want to build the rest together.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate 6-12 months, though this depends on community feedback and development progress. We'd rather take the time to get it right than rush to a 1.0 label.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to add more enemy types, weapons, tools, and derelict tile variety. We're also looking at expanded progression systems, additional cosmetics, and quality-of-life features based on player feedback. The core extraction loop is complete - Early Access is about expanding and polishing around that foundation.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay loop is fully functional: procedural derelict generation, 1-4 player co-op extraction, instability systems, merchant economy, furniture placement, and cosmetic unlocks. Players can scavenge, survive, extract, and build their NEZT today. We're expanding content and refining balance.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We're not currently planning to raise the price when leaving Early Access, but this may change if the scope expands significantly beyond our initial roadmap.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We have a Discord server where players can report bugs, suggest features, and discuss development priorities. Community feedback directly shapes our update roadmap.”

About This Game

The old world ended four hundred years ago.

What's left are the ships — drifting, dark, and still running on rules that no longer make sense.

You are Awakened. Small. Fast. Fragile.

You and your crew deploy from the NEZT into derelicts that don't know they're dead yet.

The corridors remember things.

Not all of it is useful. Not all of it is safe. Bring back what you can. Make it home. Do it again.

VAULTRATS is a 1-4 player co-op extraction game about salvage, survival, and knowing when to get out.

Explore Procedurally Generated Derelicts Every deployment is different. Corridors, rooms, and hazards shift between runs. The deeper you go, the more you find — and the less stable things become.

Scavenge, Extract, Upgrade Recover fragments and equipment from derelict ships. Extract before instability kills you and bring your haul back to the NEZT. Spend fragments at the Merchant to gear up for the next run — or risk going in empty-handed.

Instability Derelicts don't stay safe. The longer you stay, the more wrong things get. The environment shifts around you. There is no stability meter. Learn to read the room — or don't come back.

Your Ship, Your Crew The NEZT is home between runs. Customize it with unlockable furniture, gear up at the Merchant, unlock and equip cosmetics, and deploy with your crew. What you build here persists.

Early Access Roadmap VAULTRATS is in active development. Planned updates include additional weapons, cosmetics, derelict tile variety, progression systems, and more. Join the Discord to follow development and shape the game.
