About This Game

print("about.Steam");

Command.Override is a casual take on the real time tactics genre.

In a war between humanity and the AI they created that's gone out of control, robots are built to fight through the streets of a recently rebuilt society. You, a mysterious hacker, must help your side win the fight by indirectly (or in some cases, directly) manipulating the robots to turn the tide in your favor.

The rebuilding of New Earth has been interrupted.

In the far distant future, humanity is rebuilding from the ashes of devastation. Recorded knowledge is far and few between, they had to relearn technology that used to be so commonplace in the years before the war that ended the old world era. They find what would be their biggest rediscovery that ultimately lead to their downfall, Artificial Intelligence.

They named it "Contego" and without understanding how it works, gave this AI unlimited control and power to achieve a goal that backfired horribly... After failed attempts to shut it down, it completely took over the machinery of the factories and began making combat robots to wipe humanity out.

In order to fight back without risking more human lives, robots were also scrapped together by humanity to fight in their place, but they couldn't risk the AI taking control of them, so they were made inferior, no internet connection, only local programs and extremely primitive networks.

A mysterious hacker watches the battle.

Flying drones over the battlefield, someone untraceable has managed to get ahead of Contego on the digital front. By using these flying drones as relays, malicious (or sometimes helpful) code is injected into the robot's network traffic and accessing their systems, sabotaging the AI's forces, and supporting and corralling humanity's forces in order to help them complete their mission and bring everyone closer to the end of this catastrophe.

What to find in Command.Override

  • Varied Missions: As you intercept the survivor's operations, you'll find them trying to achieve various types of goals, including but not limited to; clearing an area of hostiles, protecting or destroying a specific robot, and even infiltrating hostile territory.

  • Many Types of Robots: Contego's forces have become more detailed and specialized since the survivors started fighting back, the basic combat robot alone no longer suffices. Beware of tankier bots, or smaller but quicker bots. Your forces will also be improved as new technology is discovered and recovered, like some ancient weapons of the early 21st century.

  • Unlockable Scripts: Your hacking software is in the middle of development, but as you play through the campaign you will receive updates where you can gain more scripts and abilities to control the battlefield even further, but you can only apply these updates one at a time.

  • Freeplay: Completing missions on the campaign will unlock a freeplay variant, where you are able to replay the mission with different settings or conditions. You can limit what robots will show up and even choose what scripts you have available.

  • Achievements: There are various achievements you can earn throughout the game, including a bonus objective found within every mission, as well as other situations or conditions.

More to come?

Sometime in the coming months, more missions will be announced as free updates to the game.
